Not smart at all.

If you think you are smart for keeping up smoking or just starting out you might think as I used to think. That is to say, that to me it didn’t matter what anyone said in regards to smoking, I always had in mind that it didn’t include me because I thought that I was tough. Well as I got to the age of 60 I soon found out what those people were talking about.

Everyone knows smoking is bad for your health.  But there are other reasons to quit too.  Now I am retired but not because I wanted to retire, but because I could not do anything without running out of breath. At my age I can still get a job working as a dispatcher for a security company. But it would be a night shift in which case I would be alone and because smoking also affected my heart now I always have to have someone with me. Believe me working for the most part of my life and now being retired is a drag with nothing to do. I would prefer to be working. But smoking has seen to it that it is practically impossible for me to work.

Now with nothing to do I read and listen to the news (which I find very depressing, because I finally found out what this world has turned out to be). The world is nothing but full of people that are married to money and wanting power. Even business people don’t care what kind of garbage they sell as they will do their best by adding different taste and some kind of liquid to make meat more tempting and then put it on sale just to tempt people to buy it. Now what we buy has food we never know what we are digesting.

Now all of that depressing stuff would not be top of mind for me if I were working, which is to say, if I hadn't smoked all these years, I might be in a better mood today.

Politicians and smoking (part 2)

I tried those e-cigarettes for 8 months and I soon found out that I couldn’t take in as much oxygen in my lungs as I used to be able to do. I was vaporizing with the flavoring of tobacco or rum or watermelon and I was coughing just as much as with cigarettes. I finally decided to give it up and went back to regular cigarettes and a couple of days later my lungs seemed to have gone back to the usual intake of oxygen. I must say at the time I didn’t know about this garbage of Diacetyl.

I write two blogs and when I quit vaporizing, I told my editor why I had quit and this even was before I read what this chemical was doing to my lungs. I must state also I find it hard to believe just the nicotine without all this other garbage that is added by the big tobacco companies would be safe to inhale considering that nicotine alone is a pesticide its poison.

Nicotine for e-cigarettes is mixed with water and vegetable oil. Is that vegetable oil or is it some mix of other garbage and they call it vegetable oil? When that mix is boiled and vaporize is it safe to suck it in to your lungs? These days so much is done with the food we eat and drink we never know what kind of garbage we are ingesting.

I don't think the politicians have any of this figured out but they are so ready to tell us what we should be doing.

Politicians and smoking (part 1).

I was listening to the radio the other morning and there was some whining about what the government should do to discourage people from smoking. Some idiots even said that there should be more taxes on cigarettes and some were saying the sale of tobacco should be illegal.

Why don’t these people mind their own business? Even some politicians are making it more attractive to smoke just like our dear prime minister wanting to legalize smoking pot. As if he didn’t know that smoking pot is also smoking tobacco at the same time. The pot is mixed with tobacco. In my time I have seen enough of those druggies rolling joints and adding tobacco to know that. Now I read on the internet about some doctors claiming that smoking or vaporizing whatever you want to call it is safer then smoking cigarettes. A couple of months later I read that if you use e-cigarettes flavored there is a chemical used for flavoring that makes your lungs act like popcorn. Apparently this chemical is called Diacetyl.

Being stupid

What I see as stupid is that a lot of people are against smoking and the government is pushing to stop people from smoking. But now pot smoking (marijuana) is going to be legal and as everyone knows anyone that rolls a joint the pot is mixed with tobacco. I know this because I have seen a lot of people roll their joints in my time and tobacco is mixed in it. And then when they start smoking this garbage they start coughing their lungs out. Even the smell of it is worse than the nicotine smell.

But the way this world has become, with people being greedy and wanting power we might as well have everyone on pot. Then no one will realize what’s happening to them. I guess eventually the government will not have to worry about how they manage this country as most everyone won’t realize what is happening since their brains will be so screwed up and the hospitals will be full of druggies getting treatment for their lungs and whatever else can be developed by smoking this garbage.

Now this minority will become the majority like every other minority has become. I can console myself by just thinking that I will be out of this rotten world soon. But I feel sorry for the future generation that will have to live in this world full of druggies that would be out of their damn minds. Now its pot and later it will be cocaine and so on. I guess this would depend on how much money the government will rake in because of the pot that will be bought or how much will be forfeited from the pot growers and sold for medical purposes.

That’s my rant of the day.

John Abbot

Here is another politician saying (I guess) what he thinks that some people want to hear:
“Ontario has always taken a hard line when it comes to its provincial anti-smoking laws and MPP John Abbot says.”
If he manages to get a registry of the sort he is suggesting, I just wonder if it’s going to cost the tax payers billions like it did for the gun registry. Probably.

From what I understand the gun registry doesn’t exist anymore. Does he think that kind of statement would get him elected in the next provincial election? I don’t think so.

If the politicians of Ontario would smarten up they could find out why the companies that make all kinds of garbage to stop smoking, don’t produce a safe product that would not affect the heart of a person that would want to stop smoking. It’s a known fact that smoking affects the function of the heart. For instance, seniors that have trouble walking, people sitting at their desk all day and have no time for exercise, what happens to their heart?

The heart loses pressure, their lungs get filled with the fluids because the heart has lost strength and doesn’t have enough pressure to push the fluids out of the lungs and the results are that you drown in your own intake of fluids. That’s exactly what happened to me. I died briefly as a result of it, then came back alive again. My kidneys and lungs had shut down and once the fluids had been drained from my lungs the heart picked up strength again. I was lucky.

Now you go and buy a product to help you to stop smoking and when you read the label it says consult a physician before using if you have heart problems. John Abbot is looking in the wrong place for a solution.

Committing suicide (Part II)

Continued from here.

Now I’m not smoking any more. But I know all the smoking from the past has caught up to me. Now I have what they call Melanoma, which is sort of a skin cancer. The first piece of evidence is on my hand and the second is between my shoulder and neck. Also, now I have a lump starting on my throat.

I will say if you are a smoker you`d better quit before it gets to the point that you start getting sick because of it. That garbage sneaks up on you and before you realize it your heart starts getting weak and you drown in your own fluids.  Your lungs being full of fluids as your heart loses power and then your kidneys shutting down is a terrible thing. That is why I called this committing suicide and no one that smokes gets away from what this smoking does to your health.

No one.  You are not a special case. And 10, 20 or 60 years from now, when it catches up to you, you will regret it, deeply.

Committing suicide. (Part I)

That`s just dumb.
If you are a smoker, you are automatically committing suicide. I am positive in saying this because of my own experience. I started smoking at age thirteen. As I got more used to it, my smoking increased to two and sometimes three packs a day. Well, this lasted for 66 years. Then on May the 11th 2011, I took a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. At the hospital while waiting for a doctor, I passed out out of a shortness of oxygen. I could not breath anymore because my heart was not strong enough to push the liquid out of my lungs. So I drowned in my own fluids. Then my kidneys had also shut down. When the doctor arrived to check me he told my family that I would not last until the morning after having giving me a good examination. Finally, they called a priest and I was given the last Rites of the Church. My soul did leave my body and went in the afterlife. That’s how I know there is life after death. After a while I came back to life and the doctor could not figure out why I did.

When I went in the hospital I was 216 pounds. After just 10 days I was down to 168. When I came out I had to get my eyes operated on and yet I kept on smoking for a couple more years. In December of last year, a friend of my son gave my son and I, each a kit of e-cigarettes. I stared using it the same day. I have not smoked a cigarette since then. My intake of oxygen became easier. I could feel my lungs expand whenever I would take a deep breath and a lot of garbage would come up from my lungs.

Finally after not smoking for 8 months, I was getting short of breath again. I don’t know why because there is no garbage in the e-cigarette liquid, almost no nicotine. And the nicotine that is in there is clean with no extra chemicals added to it. For the last 4 months I have not been getting any nicotine whatsoever because I switched to the non-nicotine strength.

Maybe it`s a delayed effect from when I did smoke. Smoking is suicide. It WILL kill you. Just because it doesn`t do it in one day doesn`t mean it isn`t working on it and won`t get you eventually. And because you know that it will, you are killing yourself by doing it. That`s suicide.

More to come in my next post.

Are Electronic cigarettes dangerous?

I guess the people asking that question don’t read too many reports about what is added or taken out of the food that we buy in good faith. Otherwise they'd be more worried about our food.  I've been keeping up with the e-cigarettes issue and if you have then you would not be asking a question about their safety. I will say that electric cigarettes are 100% safer than some of the food that we buy in good faith

Of course electronic cigarettes are safe except for e-diots (e-cigarette idiots) who would buy refills of nicotine in those little bottles and don’t have enough sense to take safety precautions.  All you need to do is make sure to handle it safely and not leave it within reach of children and/or pets. The level of nicotine will kill a child or pet (or even an adult) if it’s ingested orally.  Even if you spill some on your skin it could be poison.  The solution is to be safe about how you use and store it.  The answer is not to ban it.

There are some people that do not like cigarette smoke, so if they see someone smoking one of these e-cigarettes then the first thing you know, they will start whining and saying that the smoke stinks and makes them sick. It’s safe to say that their imaginations are running wild, because it’s not smoke that comes out of an e-cigarette but water vapor. But to be honest, if you are vapourizing Canadian tobacco, there is a smell of tobacco.  But it doesn't stay around too long - it dissipates within a few seconds. Yet some of the other flavors like watermelon, orange or pomegranate or any other flavour it’s only the smell of whatever flavor the  "smoker" chooses because there is no nicotine in it.  The smell dissipates in a couple seconds because it’s not smoke but vapour.

If a person were to be brought to court because he/she was using this in a "no smoking" area, they should have the case thron out of court unless it was also stated that e- cigarettes are not allowed in that area. The charge of smoking would not be legal as you were not smoking you were vapourizing. There is a big difference. Smoking involves tobacco which causes smoke but vapor is not smoke, it is evaporating water. So the charge against you would say smoking but the charge would be dropped because you were not smoking. Even if your using that cigarette where it states you can’t use electronic cigarettes, just the fact that they marked smoking would be a false charge. They would have to charge you with vapourizing and there are no criminal charges for causing vapour.  If there were anyone charges for that, then boiling water while cooking could be breaking the law.

Bloomberg banned e-cigarettes? That's dumb.

Former Mayor Bloomberg of NYC signed into law 22 bills including one banning e-cigarettes where smoking is prohibited. This man doesn’t know a lot of things, including the difference between smoking tobacco and vaporizing. There is no smoke from these cigarettes as its only vapor that comes out and not smoke like smoking tobacco. Any one that sees another smoking these e-cigarettes cannot mistake them for real cigarettes.

The nicotine in these cigarettes are nicotine that is mixed with some kind of oil and there are different strength s that can be useful for weaning yourself off of nicotine altogether, according to how heavily a person was smoking cigarettes before starting to quit smoking by using the e-cigarettes. I was a heavy smoker for 65 years (no kidding). I didn’t have the willpower to quit. With  these cigarettes I started with the nicotine of the strength of 18mg. mix of nicotine and clean nicotine not like the 4000 or 5000 chemicals that are added by the tobacco companies that are very dangerous to one’s health.

Having smoked these cigarettes for a period of two weeks I tried a regular cigarette and after 2 to 3 drags I threw it where it belongs - in the garbage. Once in a while I get the urge to smoke a regular cigarette but when I think of the taste of all the garbage that is added in the cigarettes it changes my mind.

Like I mentioned there is no smoke that comes out.  It is just vapor because the contents of an e-cigarette are heated by a battery and the only thing that comes out is vapor. I am proud to say that only after 3 weeks,  I don’t crave cigarettes anymore. I know in another two weeks I will be ready to use a mix of less nicotine and then after about another month with weaker nicotine still I will have quit that bad habit which was partly to blame for a heart attack brought on by blood cloth too big to pass through my heart. The cardiologist had to put in a stent in my vein leading to the heart. Also because of the plaque build up in my veins the heart lost enough  pressure that my lungs had built up with fluid and it acted as if I was getting a heart attack. An ambulance was called and took me to the hospital and about an hour later and I could not breathe anymore. I was drowning because of the fluid built up in my lungs and I was declared dead by the doctor and after a few minutes I came back.  The point is, smoking was a huge factor in all of this and e-cigarettes are helping me quit, quite successfully so far.

They say if you quit smoking you can add another 10 years to your life. Now I have my chance to see if this is not just a myth. I’m 78 now and if I’m still here at 88 years old then I’ll still be writing my rants. Smoking has cost me a lot of problems health wise.  I would say this an enjoyable way to stop smoking  because you are feeding your body with nicotine that you craved but with 'good' nicotine that is not mixed with all the garbage of chemicals that are added by the tobacco companies.  By diminishing the strength of nicotine a bit at a time a person finally succeeds in quitting this dirty habit.

If you want to quit smoking but don’t have the will power try the e-cigarette and you don’t need will power.

Mayor Bloomberg, in a last minute Big Brother, "I know what is best for you"moment, typical of his run as mayor, banned something that has the potential to help a lot of people quit.  One of the benefits of the e-cigarettes is that they mean you can "smoke" without the second hand smoke problem, at least not to the same extent.  But Bloomberg thinks he knows people's health matters better than everyone.  That's dumb.

That's my rant for today

Kicking the smoking habit

After smoking for 65 years I tried to quit. I don’t know how many times I have tried, but I have to mention that I don’t have the willpower needed to really quit.  Last Friday, a friend of my son brought  over two kits to stop smoking.  He said it was a Christmas present. I took it just to be polite and thanked him.  He then showed me how to load it up with this mix of nicotine and some kind of oil.

This kit comes with two of what looks like a piece of straight pipe. I’m not kidding -- these things are 5¼ inches long and about ½  an inch in circumference.  They are neat looking; mine are purple with a silver band in the middle.  They have a battery charger and a bottle of the stuff that you put in a little at a time and if you’re a heavy smoker like I am, when you fill this thing up, its good for at least three days. And doesn’t take too much to fill it up.  Since I tried it that same night, I have tried one regular cigarette since then and I will say that cigarette was thrown away after a couple of drags.  The thing seems to be working.

Since this is the first kit it’s the strong one in taste but once your system gets used to this one, then another kit comes that looks the same but with weaker nicotine.  And if you get the last kit well you’re just creating vapor with all of them.

What I like about those is that not only are you quitting smoking but whenever you feel like smoking just take a drag on it as if it was a regular cigarette. Also you can have fun with it.  No smoke comes from it as it’s only vapor and there is no tobacco smell. Since you only create vapor, you can go into a store and you take a drag on it and keep your mouth shut for a couple of seconds and the vapor has disappeared there is no smell and no one knows you just have just smoked because this thing looks like a toy. I tried this in the Giant Tiger store and even though people were looking at me, they didn’t know I was smoking. They must have thought that I was some kind of a senile old man playing with a toy. Just one week and I know I will have this bad habit beaten by the time I finish the last step.  That's great.

In fact I feel better already when I get up in the morning. I don’t cough. I mostly don’t wake up choking in the middle of the night, but when I do cough, it’s the garbage coming out of my lungs. I've heard that is normal from other people who have quit.  Those things are called Evod.  They're really good stuff. And I'm not being paid to say that, they really are.  If you really want to stop smoking but you don’t have the will to do it, I would suggest you try the Evod kit OttawaEsmoke.com

I wonder what they'll think about this stuff if everybody ends up quitting someday.

Government Priorities

Wouldn't it be nice if the government would finally decide which is worse for human’s health and safety before telling us what we can do and what we cannot do?  I’m referring to this smoking habit and  consumption of alcohol. All I have to say about smoking, I will agree that smoking is bad but not as bad as the consumption of alcohol and drugs.

Alcohol attacks the liver and can bring on death.  It drives some people to commit all kinds of crimes.  Some abusers end up in rehab or in hospitals. Smoking can bring on death just as well from blocked arteries and blood cloth and plaque on the heart and arteries but it doesn't drive a person to commit crimes like alcohol and drugs do. I realize that these bad habits affect the brain but smoking regular tobacco is the less of the three evils I mentioned.  Drugs can be as bad or even far worse than alcohol depending on the type of drug.

I know the government goes after both druggies and smokers. Smoking though, has less effect the user’s brain and is the least dangerous one as far as violence and crime are concerned. But it seems to be the most picked on. One law where it’s against the law to smoke (and I agree with), is no smoking in an automobile when there are kids aboard.  But that's a bit of an exception.  Most anti-smoking laws are not so logical.

One law I find stupid and I mean stupid is the law in many places that forbids smoking outside in the fresh air. I just don’t see the logic in that. I can even understand not smoking in a closed in area, but not outside.

Some will say as a defense of this law that there could be kids around and it could give them the idea of trying it. In the meantime it’s all over the TV. Turn the TV on and most of the time the actors or actresses light up or are already smoking.

Kids these days get most bad habits at school and from video games or watching TV (and to be fair, in some homes also). My only bad habit that I know of is smoking and I will keep on smoking till the day I die. I don’t indulge in any consumption of alcohol and I’m not hurting anyone, so stay the hell out of my private life. That means anyone - including the government.

Have a good day.

Stupid, stupid questions and stink

These days I guess, we can expect anything - either written or verbally - in regards to a person trying to get elected.

*Are Mitt Romney's jeans terribly out of fashion?*

Isn’t that stupid? Mr. Romney better have curtains in his bedroom window or we might be asked if his undershorts are in fashion.

*****************************************

I read this stupid question on Fox News in the section called (also on the web).

A woman who was fired for smoking claims that every morning she takes a shower and puts on clean clothes and doesn’t smoke in her car. I was a heavy smoker, I used to hang around bars hotels and taverns but kept myself clean all the time because one night in one of those places and a person smelled like he had just came out of a city dump. I was never accused of stinking, nor did I want to be.

Now this woman is either lying or the staff for some reason or other doesn’t like her and wants to see her gone. If she smells like that I know what the smell is and I must say its not to agreeable to the nose or anyone else around. The only reason a smoker gets to the point of stinking is because that person doesn’t keep him/herself clean with showers and clean clothes. Also if a person perspires a lot, the nicotine smell will come out of the pores just like the smell of garlic if you're always eating it and it stinks badly. Cleanliness solves the problem or quitting smoking.

There are my two unrelated rants of the day.

Another whiner

I heard another whiner.  This whiner has a different whine not only about smokers but about that to which his tax dollars are contributing.

Ontario’s Whiners

Some of Ontario’s whiners, are blaming the province of Quebec again. While reading the Sun News Paper I read this complain". According to the Whiners,  Quebec is getting too much money from the Feds for the immigrants, compared to what Ontario gets and that Quebec chooses the kind of immigrants that they want to accept.

Whiners without a cause - Part 2

Yesterday I complained about people who complain about smoking.  Guess what - I'm not done.  There are some people that don’t like the smell of alcohol but I don’t hear anyone complaining or try to get some kind of law to make sure that people who indulge in that stuff do not breath in the direction of a person  who doesn't use alcohol.  There's no movement to ban second hand alcohol fumes.  Or did I miss that protest march?

Whiners without a cause - Part 1

I called this post whiners without a cause because of what I had read in the Ottawa Sun newspaper earlier this week. According to what I read, the health department has conducted a poll in Ottawa and it appears most people would embrace an expanded smoking ban that includes restaurant patios, parks and beaches.

Whiners

I guess you might say that I’m just as bad as those I'm going to rant about now, because I rant about some thing every day. Yes, I rant everyday. But the reason I rant everyday is to show how stupid some of these people are.
