Idiots in government

Some politicians are not too bright. Start off with our prime minister. Federally, provincially and municipally they are all doing their best to discourage people from smoking. But guess what? Our prime minister is going to legalize pot next year. What a bright fellow. He must know that all pot smokers mix that garbage with tobacco. I know this by watching some of them even going from business to business picking up butts to break them open to mix their rotten garbage with.

Then they get a big smile on their faces because they finally have something to go with their garbage then they light up and that’s when their coughing starts. I even had some of them tell me that the first thing they want in the morning is a joint and a bottle of beer. The difference is a smoker the first thing they want in the morning is a coffee and a cigarette. Now I must say the people that likes to have a joint first thing in the morning are those that can’t or don’t want to see what kind of world this has turned out to be so by getting a buzz the first thing in the morning that’s what gets them going.

There is a false thinking about this. One morning they will try it but there won’t be any more buzz so they will go for something stronger and I guess they will not have to worry about that because our dear prime minister will take care of that. He’s not looking out for the welfare of the individual but forward to the next election so more druggies means more votes for him. I guess we can expect the permission of smoking or taking stronger drugs just before the next election.

Privacy: Is your's doomed?

This morning I noticed this article. Privacy is something that doesn't seem to matter anymore.Giving up our privacy deserves some serious thought.  Giving it up without even knowing we are doing so, is unforgivable.

Utility companies across the U.S. are installing smart meters in customers’ homes, touting the technology’s energy-saving ways, but opponents argue that the meters are opening a Pandora’s box of privacy concerns.

The smart energy meters read electric or gas usage, and enable a power company to collect detailed usage data on a particular home or building. But the readings also gather personal information that some critics argue is too intrusive.

The information gathered from smart meters includes unencrypted data that can, among other details, reveal when a homeowner is away from their residence for long periods of time. The electric wattage readings can even decipher what type of activities a customer is engaged in, such as watching TV, using a computer or even how long someone spends cooking.

I had never thought that smart meters were invading the privacy of anyone. After reading about what these smart meters are capable of doing, I've changed my mind. Now I realize why the government has no objection to the installation of these so called smart meters. By having these smart hydro meters, the government can know approximately what you do in your own home and also when you’re not at home. By asking the Hydro company for the information about certain families the government may be interested in knowing about, the government can get a lot of private information pretty easily.

Now I don’t want to sound as if I have a bad case of paranoia, but what if the government decides to actually spy on you? What would stop them from having a litle webcam and microphone installed in a brand new television? I’m not saying it is happening or might happen, but the way things are going now, we never know who is liable to spy on us and why they are doing it? And it wouldn’t necessarily have to be our own government but any government. A foreign government would have even less business doing so. Of course if they were asked by our own government to do so they could claim it to be for security reasons. It might absolve our own government of any wrongdoing because no one would know who was really behind the invasion of privacy.

Isn’t that something to think about?

All about beliefs [Part 1 of 2]

When browsing through different internet sites this morning, I happened to see this article about Atheists pushing their agenda. 

American Atheists, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, has started 2014 with an aggressive push, filing a legal challenge to the Ten Commandments displayed on Oklahoma state capitol grounds and taking out billboards in Utah targeting the Mormon faith.

The group is increasingly being joined by other atheist organizations in challenging public displays of religion and demanding equal access for their viewpoint.

For example, administrators with the University of Wisconsin-Extension this month ordered that all 137 of its Gideon Bibles be removed from guest rooms at the campus Lowell Center, after a group composed of "freethinkers: atheists, agnostics, and skeptics of any pedigree" questioned their presence.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) said that since the school was partially funded by public dollars, the placement of the Bibles in visitors' nightstands violated the Constitution because it could be interpreted as a government sponsorship of religion.

 Reading this article, I felt compelled to write what I’m going to write about a couple subjects, one of which I think might offend some people.

First of all, I agree that anything that would suggest any kind of faith should not be on government properties. Government should not be in a position to promote any kind of religion. The government is for the people and many citizens have their own beliefs about the different preaching as to what is and what is not and how the world was created. People have different beliefs about how it all started and the creation of the human species. All these different beliefs in the West at least, derive mostly from different interpretations of the Bible, because of the way it was written.

Now some politicians have made it their business to change some of the laws that are in the Bible. For instance, marriage should be between man and woman only. Some politicians have changed this law into marriage within the same sex which is now allowed in some countries. Changing how a society operates is one thing, but telling people of a certain faith that they must alter their faith is as unfair as putting something of a particular faith on government property.  It is suggestive of a certain way as being more right than others.

Incest. Now this is the one that will offend some people. For this part I’m only writing about what is preached by most Christian religion. Most preachers talk at some point about how the human species was created. Apparently God picked up some dust and blew oxygen on it and man was created. He then took a rib from Adam and created a woman and called her Eve.

Now Adam and Eve lived in a place called the Garden of Eden and they had 2 kids. Specifically, they had 2 boys named Cain and Abel. Now if Adam and Eve only had 2 boys where do the other women come from?  To me it would mean that Eve had to have more than 2 boys but was not impregnated by Adam. And that is where the incest comes in and it’s also the reason why the preachers preach that we are brothers and sisters and that’s why man has made it a law prohibiting incest (which is a good law). As the only law that is in the Bible in fact is a commandment that says “thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s wife.

What I’m getting at, is that it doesn’t matter whom a person marries and you have intercourse you are committing a crime called incest, because according to the Bible we are all brothers and sisters.

There is a belief by a lot of people that kids born out of incest that there would be something wrong with them either mentally or physically. I didn’t believe that before but to see and read and hear what is going around in this world these days I am inclined to believe it.

Either that, or this is one of those interpreting the Bible problems I mentioned above.

Beef about butter

My beef today would be about butter.

 

Some Doctors claim that butter is no good for you because of its contents; salt and fat.

 

I would like to ask some of these Doctors, why they don’t go after the government to stop these food producers to stop playing around with the food. Like adding to it, or extracting from it and to use less salt in their products.  Why don’t they stop coloring the meat to make it more attractive?  That’s just more garbage added to the meat.

 

At the same time why don’t they ask the government to have the price of butter lowered? Because some people that are buying margarine at this time can’t afford butter. I’m sure that buying unsalted butter would be a lot healthier then this stuff that was made for animals is now food for humans.

Very seldom will I eat margarine, because some of that stuff leaves a rotten tangy taste in the mouth.

 

Whatever causes that I don’t know, but to me it can’t be good for the health. I will say not all margarine leaves a bad taste in the mouth but most do.

Are you a Christian?

Are you a Christian or a hypocrite?  If you are a Christian then be one and don’t be scared to admit it. I know there are a lot of people who will not admit to being a Christian these days because they don’t want to offend anyone.  Being a Christian does not offend anyone. If it does, it’s because the ones that are offended are the non-believers and if they don’t believe that is their prerogative. All I can say to those who deny being a Christian will see on judgment day what a big mistake they have made just to appease someone. Those are the ones I call hypocrites. 

This world of today is full of that type of people. Here in Canada we don’t hear too much of that. It’s especially in the USA where this appears to be a problem. But taking into account the size of the population of the USA compared to Canada, actually we have just as much per capita. 

But when it comes to professors like this teacher Deandra Poole in a Florida University getting the students to write down the word Jesus then put the paper on the floor and the word Jesus facing up then telling them to stomp on it then I would say this is going a little too far and that teacher should be fired.

**** I forgot to mention this. Do you remember a time when the majority adopted the result of whatever the subject was about? These days it’s we don’t want to offend anyone, and the more it goes on the more the minority wins. 

**** Another thing - governments should stay out of religion. Religion is religion and the government is the government, and the government should not have any say as far as religion goes. They were elected to run the country and not to dictate what should be or not happen with respect to religion. If the majority of people are Christians then let them be.  If they want crucifix or anything that represents a Christians belief hanging on the walls then let it be.  If some unbelievers don’t like it they don’t have to look at it or they can just stay out of whatever place that these things that offends them reside. Besides they know they will see that stuff if they go into certain buildings.If they are non-believers they have no business in there in the first place.

Government Priorities

Wouldn't it be nice if the government would finally decide which is worse for human’s health and safety before telling us what we can do and what we cannot do?  I’m referring to this smoking habit and  consumption of alcohol. All I have to say about smoking, I will agree that smoking is bad but not as bad as the consumption of alcohol and drugs.

Alcohol attacks the liver and can bring on death.  It drives some people to commit all kinds of crimes.  Some abusers end up in rehab or in hospitals. Smoking can bring on death just as well from blocked arteries and blood cloth and plaque on the heart and arteries but it doesn't drive a person to commit crimes like alcohol and drugs do. I realize that these bad habits affect the brain but smoking regular tobacco is the less of the three evils I mentioned.  Drugs can be as bad or even far worse than alcohol depending on the type of drug.  

I know the government goes after both druggies and smokers. Smoking though, has less effect the user’s brain and is the least dangerous one as far as violence and crime are concerned. But it seems to be the most picked on. One law where it’s against the law to smoke (and I agree with), is no smoking in an automobile when there are kids aboard.  But that's a bit of an exception.  Most anti-smoking laws are not so logical.

One law I find stupid and I mean stupid is the law in many places that forbids smoking outside in the fresh air. I just don’t see the logic in that. I can even understand not smoking in a closed in area, but not outside. 

Some will say as a defense of this law that there could be kids around and it could give them the idea of trying it. In the meantime it’s all over the TV. Turn the TV on and most of the time the actors or actresses light up or are already smoking.

Kids these days get most bad habits at school and from video games or watching TV (and to be fair, in some homes also). My only bad habit that I know of is smoking and I will keep on smoking till the day I die. I don’t indulge in any consumption of alcohol and I’m not hurting anyone, so stay the hell out of my private life. That means anyone - including the government.

Becoming a senior

On becoming a senior, you think that life is going to be easy for you. I have news for you, it isn't. First of all, at a certain age you have to pass a physical if you want to keep your driving permit. Even if you get it renewed, some insurance companies, once you reach 75, consider you off limits. At least that seems to be the case.

This crazy world

This means WAR!!!!

I envy people that have to go out and work. My reason for saying this, is that while you're working, you're not sitting at home and listening to the news on the television or reading the news paper for lack of anything to do.

I know, upon reading this, some will say or think this guy must be crazy. Well after having worked for almost 60 years and then all of a sudden, sitting at home with nothing to do except listening and reading the news,  that’s how I discovered how sick this world is.
