The mentality of some people.

I was sitting by my bedroom window one day just watching people going by. I like to do that and you'll soon understand why. While watching people going by, and older person pulled up at the store across the street from my place got out of his car and went to the back and opened the trunk. He took out a case of 24 of empty beer bottles. Now there was nothing wrong in doing that but it’s the way he was carrying that case of empty bottles of beer that got me wondering if he would make it to the store. But he did. After I would say about 10 minutes he came out carrying a new case of 24 beers and walking it seems without any problems at all and with a big grin on his face. Comparing at the way he was struggling with the empty one while carrying it to the store it was unbelievable.

I find it kind of strange at some people’s mentality how quick it can change and how effective it can be to a person’s mind to carry something that they enjoy and in this case just knowing that he had a full case of the stuff gave him more energy and a happy look instead of a grouchy one. When I saw the look on this person before and after getting what he wanted right away my thoughts turn to thinking that this person had turned out to be a slave to that garbage like a lot of those people are and like I used to be. I was smart enough to understand what kind of person I was turning into with that kind of garbage and I never touched it again. This was 35 years ago and I have never regretted one day of those years. I’m glad I did because I wouldn’t have wanted to turn out like this old idiot that I saw this morning.

Sometimes sitting by my window early in the morning and watching people going by can be just as enjoyable as watching a good comical movie.

Government Priorities

Wouldn't it be nice if the government would finally decide which is worse for human’s health and safety before telling us what we can do and what we cannot do?  I’m referring to this smoking habit and  consumption of alcohol. All I have to say about smoking, I will agree that smoking is bad but not as bad as the consumption of alcohol and drugs.

Alcohol attacks the liver and can bring on death.  It drives some people to commit all kinds of crimes.  Some abusers end up in rehab or in hospitals. Smoking can bring on death just as well from blocked arteries and blood cloth and plaque on the heart and arteries but it doesn't drive a person to commit crimes like alcohol and drugs do. I realize that these bad habits affect the brain but smoking regular tobacco is the less of the three evils I mentioned.  Drugs can be as bad or even far worse than alcohol depending on the type of drug.

I know the government goes after both druggies and smokers. Smoking though, has less effect the user’s brain and is the least dangerous one as far as violence and crime are concerned. But it seems to be the most picked on. One law where it’s against the law to smoke (and I agree with), is no smoking in an automobile when there are kids aboard.  But that's a bit of an exception.  Most anti-smoking laws are not so logical.

One law I find stupid and I mean stupid is the law in many places that forbids smoking outside in the fresh air. I just don’t see the logic in that. I can even understand not smoking in a closed in area, but not outside.

Some will say as a defense of this law that there could be kids around and it could give them the idea of trying it. In the meantime it’s all over the TV. Turn the TV on and most of the time the actors or actresses light up or are already smoking.

Kids these days get most bad habits at school and from video games or watching TV (and to be fair, in some homes also). My only bad habit that I know of is smoking and I will keep on smoking till the day I die. I don’t indulge in any consumption of alcohol and I’m not hurting anyone, so stay the hell out of my private life. That means anyone - including the government.

Have a good day.

Whiners without a cause - Part 2

Yesterday I complained about people who complain about smoking.  Guess what - I'm not done.  There are some people that don’t like the smell of alcohol but I don’t hear anyone complaining or try to get some kind of law to make sure that people who indulge in that stuff do not breath in the direction of a person  who doesn't use alcohol.  There's no movement to ban second hand alcohol fumes.  Or did I miss that protest march?

Dual personality

I don’t know for sure but to me, alcohol seems to brings out a second personality in some people after a certain amount has been consumed. I know some people that have a nice personality and they would give you the moon if they could. After consuming a certain amount of alcohol, they are not the same people at all. These people do not have any friends or family at all. Once the alcohol hits their brain they become strangers.

That is where in their mind, they are the best in the world and they know it all, and as for the language that they use, it is unforgivable. They must think that they are immune to everything. It’s too bad alcohol works like that on some people's mind. They don’t think of other people's feelings either. They think only of their own feelings - don’t try to have a talk with them. Once they are under the influence, they are the only ones that can talk.

It’s not tobacco that the government should try to stop people from using, its alcohol they should try and stop. Alcohol causes just as much problems in this world as does money. I have never heard of an accident or robbery because of someone being under the influence of Nicotine.

That is my rant of the day.

Alcoholism and drugs.

This little store at the corner by my place opens at 8:00 am. The other day I needed some bread so I went down to buy some first thing when it opened. I wasn't in that store 5 minutes when this woman came in and went straight to the fridge where the beer was. Less than a minute later she turned around and yelled at the lady at the counter, asking "Where is the Labatt's Blue?" The clerk at the counter answered her quite politely that they had ran out of it but that she would have some during the day. Believe it or not that clerk really got a speech from this alcoholic woman. I felt like telling the woman to get out.
