I was given an e-cigarette kit last Christmas. I've been using it. I started off with 24 mg. of nicotine and after three months I cut that down to zero. I didn’t smoke a cigarette for 9 months but the urge to smoke never completely went away. When I stared recently to cough just as bad as when I was smoking, my lungs felt like they had shrunk in the amount of oxygen that they would take in. Finally one day I decided to have a cigarette and it seemed that my lungs after a couple of cigarettes, would take in more oxygen.
To be honest those cigarettes made me feel sick - just the taste of it was enough to put the pack away and head back to the e-cigarettes. At least with the e-cigarettes I didn’t get that sickening feeling. But I still cough my guts out whenever I inhale the vapor. Besides, when vaporizing, doesn’t that vapor with the type of oil that is used plus the Propylene Glycol have some kind of effect on the lungs? I don't know. I know that the Glycol is also used in some foods but inhaling it might have a different effect on the lungs. I also know that some people are allergic to Propylene Glycol and have had to use the e-cigarettes without this Glycol.
So where does this leave me? I used to tell every smoker to try it. I still think they have a lot of advantages over cigarettes and may be the key to stopping. But they are not perfect. They have their own issues. But they are a step in the right direction. If I can take that step at my age, what is your excuse if you don't try.
End of rant. Have a good day.
