Government Priorities

Wouldn't it be nice if the government would finally decide which is worse for human’s health and safety before telling us what we can do and what we cannot do?  I’m referring to this smoking habit and  consumption of alcohol. All I have to say about smoking, I will agree that smoking is bad but not as bad as the consumption of alcohol and drugs.

Alcohol attacks the liver and can bring on death.  It drives some people to commit all kinds of crimes.  Some abusers end up in rehab or in hospitals. Smoking can bring on death just as well from blocked arteries and blood cloth and plaque on the heart and arteries but it doesn't drive a person to commit crimes like alcohol and drugs do. I realize that these bad habits affect the brain but smoking regular tobacco is the less of the three evils I mentioned.  Drugs can be as bad or even far worse than alcohol depending on the type of drug.

I know the government goes after both druggies and smokers. Smoking though, has less effect the user’s brain and is the least dangerous one as far as violence and crime are concerned. But it seems to be the most picked on. One law where it’s against the law to smoke (and I agree with), is no smoking in an automobile when there are kids aboard.  But that's a bit of an exception.  Most anti-smoking laws are not so logical.

One law I find stupid and I mean stupid is the law in many places that forbids smoking outside in the fresh air. I just don’t see the logic in that. I can even understand not smoking in a closed in area, but not outside.

Some will say as a defense of this law that there could be kids around and it could give them the idea of trying it. In the meantime it’s all over the TV. Turn the TV on and most of the time the actors or actresses light up or are already smoking.

Kids these days get most bad habits at school and from video games or watching TV (and to be fair, in some homes also). My only bad habit that I know of is smoking and I will keep on smoking till the day I die. I don’t indulge in any consumption of alcohol and I’m not hurting anyone, so stay the hell out of my private life. That means anyone - including the government.

Have a good day.

The trial of Casey Anthony

I don’t know why, but I can’t get the trial of Casey Anthony out of my mind for the simple reason, that I think they have accused the wrong person in Casey Anthony. I think that the murder of her daughter was committed not by her but by someone else. I think I have a good idea has to who did it to frame Casey.

What I heard and observed what went on in the court room at her trial, plus the fact to what was said on a video that was just out on Fox.  News by her lawyer, convinced me that she was more or less framed by the killer.  This video that I mentioned that I happened see, got me thinking about it again. I've loaded it below but it seems to load quite slowly - so I've added the link.

I would suspect at least two more people of killing Casey Anthony's child other than Casey Anthony herself.  One suspect stands out more in my mind after seeing the conduct of both of these people in the court room.

Unbelievers

More and more often, we hear about non-believers (or unbelievers as I call them) not wanting to hear about anything that would refer to God, or any objects that would hint of any kind of religious beliefs. A lot of it comes out in the United States around Christmas displays in government buildings.  These are the type of people that have no faith - except perhaps in themselves.  It's okay to have faith in yourself, but it's also okay to have faith in God if that is how you feel.

End of the World?

There are a lot of predictions about the end of the world. The end of the world will come, not from the invisible entity we call God but by stupid human beings that are fighting for power and also over differences in faith. They are the ones that will destroy us all (and themselves). Here is what a scientist from NASA has to say about this rumor of the end of this world on the 21st of this month.

These fears are based on misinterpretations of the Mayan calendar. On the 21st, the date of the winter solstice, a calendar cycle called the 13th b'ak'tun comes to an end. Although Maya scholars agree that the ancient Maya would not have seen this day as apocalyptic, rumors have spread that a cosmic event may end life on Earth on that day.
Thus NASA's involvement. The space agency maintains a 2012 information page debunking popular Mayan apocalypse rumors, such as the idea that a rogue planet will hit Earth on Dec. 21, killing everyone. (In fact, astronomers are quite good at detecting near-Earth objects, and any wandering planet scheduled to collide with Earth in three weeks would be the brightest object in the sky behind the sun and moon by now.
"There is no true issue here," David Morrison, an astrobiologist at NASA Ames Research Center, said...

Liberals - Federally and Provincially

I turned radio station CFRA at around 12pm a few days back, just in time to listen to a big line of bull from a Mr. Garneau, who is running for the leader of the Liberals.  The way he was praising the Liberals,  was silly.  Mr. Garneau, the only thing the Liberals are good for, is to raise taxes and run everything down. What about the ad scam in Québec and what about running down the Provinces of Ontario and Québec from have provinces to have not provinces? What about this health tax of $200.00 that the Liberals came out with in these provinces?

Israel, rockets and Hamas

Here is a good example of the destruction and killings that religion can be blamed for. The Israelites are being persecuted for their faith. Now we all know that we can’t trust the media for telling us the truth, but when they come out with videos that shows what goes on, then it can’t be denied.

These people are being bombarded with rockets day and night. Now they decided to defend themselves by hitting back to try to stop Hamas from targeting them. They are being blamed for killing civilians but if Hamas hide behind civilians like Israel claims, then those civilians could be part of Hamas, or followers of Hamas.  able to defend itself.Even if they are innocent, non-Hamas people, they are shielding Hamas - willingly or not.  Israel has to be able to defend itself.

Videos have been shown of some people (civilians) cheering Hamas on as they were firing rockets towards Israel. What really gets me is Israel is getting blamed for retaliation against Hamas while Hamas are using kids and woman as their reason for wanting Israel to stop What is Israel supposed to do? Just run for cover and let the rockets come? And if any kids or the woman in Israel get killed I guess they don’t matter is that it?

Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism will be the downfall of Canada if this is not done away with. It’s been reported that a gay woman by the name of Faith McGregor went in to a Muslim barber shop asking for a businessman’s haircut because she doesn't like the girly haircuts she would get in a hair salon.

Mr. Mahrouk is the owner of this barbershop named Terminal Barber shop in Toronto. The customer was refused service.  Here is why he refused to take her business.  He follows Shariah law, so he thinks women have cooties. As Mahrouk and the other barbers there say, they don’t believe in touching women other than their own wives.

So she went to the human’s right commission to complain but from what I can see it appears so far that Mr.Mahrouk won his case.

The man and woman that killed their daughters in Kingston should have went to the human rights commission because they were following Shariah law by claiming they were just following their culture and the laws of their religion.

This is what happens with multiculturalism. Immigrants that immigrate to this country and still want to abide by their Shariah law can just do what they want - like murder, torture or whatever - and claim it’s the laws of their religion and from what I can understand; the effect of multiculturalism is to allow them to bring in this law.

Some of these people want to immigrate here to have a better life but they still want to keep to their tradition. I ask myself, why they bother to move here in Canada and still stick to the rules of their original country.

That’s my rant of the day.

When we are young.

When we are young, say in our teenage years, we tend to do the most stupid things without ever thinking of what the consequences could be.

For some reason or other, I was sitting here at the computer and started thinking of some stupid things, that friends and I used to do when we were in our teens. Our past time at night was to go skinning dipping (swimming in the nude). We never realize at the time and never thought of what could be lurking in those dark waters.

Just sitting here thinking about it gives me the chills. Can you imagine swimming in the nude and the family jewels are just hanging there and a big pike or a snapping turtle decides that it’s an oversize worm and decides to attack? And also don’t do like I used to. While swimming don’t go chasing at anything that you see swimming around you especially turtles. I used to do that and one day I grabbed one and she slipped out of my hands then turned around and bit me on the leg. I still have the scar from it. Those turtles can be quick in the water.

I wouldn't make the same decisions today that I did when I was young. Not all the same ones, anyway.

What is the logic?

I cannot understand the logic of some jail sentences given by the judges in the USA. The sentences given to the man that shot and killed 6 people and wounded congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was 7 life sentences plus 140 years.

The New York Times said about the sentence:
TUCSON — Jared L. Loughner was sentenced Thursday to seven consecutive terms of life in prison at a court hearing punctuated by raw emotion as former Representative Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, Mark E. Kelly, for the first time confronted the man who shot her in the head during a rampage last year that left 6 dead and 12 others wounded...

Mr. Loughner’s punishment — in addition to the life terms, he was sentenced to 140 years in prison — came as no surprise. It was a condition of the guilty plea he entered on Aug. 7, admitting to the shootings and bringing to an end a case that had prompted much soul-searching about mental health treatment and the country’s gun laws.
The man must not be susceptible to heart attacks if he didn’t have one upon hearing those sentences. I almost took one just reading about it.

They must have a reason for that kind of sentences but I can’t understand the logic behind it. This is not the first time I've read about prison sentences that makes no sense to me whatsoever. I guess with this kind of sentences, there is no way that this man will ever come out except feet first. So if there were no doubts about his guilt why not execute him? To me it would make more sense to execute him.  Then the families of the loved ones the he killed would know that part of their taxes are not used to support this murderer until he dies.

I might be wrong but that’s the way I look at it.

That’s my rant for the day

Puzzled

I am puzzled, by the contradictions that I read about in the writings of the Church of God and some others. Catholics claim that there are no such things as ghosts and some of us who has seen some we know that there are. The Catholics claim that when you die and have not confessed to your sins you go straight to hell.

In the writings of the Church of God it says “that you are asleep in your grave till judgment day and on judgment day, if you’re not accepted by God, your soul is incinerated and it will never live again and this is done without any pain since God is a good God and will not torture you.”

The Catholics say “that you are in a pit of fire and suffer for eternity”. That doesn’t make any sense doesn’t? First they tell you that He is a good God and next they tell you that you will burn for all eternity. Now wouldn’t that be torture?

I have written about a book called Bible history in a previous post. This book at one time was studied by the students in Catholic schools. I cannot say if there was any written in English because all I could find was the French one. After reading this book from the old Biblical days, I believe that some of these laws if you want to call them laws, derived from what was happening in those days in regards to religion or beliefs of the people in those days. Like everything else, man has also added some sadistic extensions to some of these laws and I believe that some of these laws would not sit well with our Creator and they do not conform to the Ten Commandments that are written in the Bible.

According to the Bible the world was destroyed before with 40 days and 40 nights of rain so there must have been a judgment day and if the soul of a deceased was not accepted by God and it was incinerated where do the demons come from?

Some people upon reading this may think this person doesn’t have faith. My answer is yes I do but if I didn’t have any faith I would be an atheist which I am not.

Diets, do you keep on reading them?

Diets. I don’t know why I keep on reading them.  As I read them and check on what the professionals have to say about diet and nutrition, once they are checked for vitamins, cholesterol and whatever else they are checked for, a lot of those ingredients in a diet are proven not to be as good as the dietitians claim.

Take for instance eggs. Eggs are advertised as being good for you but according to what I've read about them (and I wrote something on a previous post) the harmful effect they can have on your health. Bananas they say if you want a flat stomach don’t eat them.  But what they don’t tell you, is that bananas are food for the heart, because of its content of potassium. I previously wrote a post about them too.

I say if you feel that you are gaining too much weight and you want to go on a diet then by all means go and see your doctor. It might save you a lot of trouble in the long run. A lot of people go on a diet for something then all of a sudden, they develop some kind of sickness and they wonder why they started feeling bad, after being on their diet for awhile. All I have to say, don’t listen to these dietitians - just see your doctor. Anyone can write a recipe and claim that this recipe has this and that as far as calories fat and so many grams of this or that or certain percentage of that and some people would believe it to be genuine. In the meantime they might not know what they are talking about.

Play it safe and see a professional - a doctor.

That’s my rant of the day.

McGuinty: Who will replace this guy?

With the resignation of Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty, I think this a good question for Ontarians is who will replace this guy.  It is sort of a puzzling question because as it is, the leader of the conservatives provincially has not shown any signs that he could be a leader. Then there is Horvath from the NDP.  I would say about the same as Hudak asw far as his ability to be premier.  I’m saying this is because Hudak and Horvath could have brought that Liberal party down when they had a chance (I should say chances).  But they never did it.

Everyone should know by now how these Liberals are.  I mentioned before that it used to be a good party but now it seems that they are always caught in some kind of scandals - at least provincially. Now the Liberals have made Ontario and Québec into have-not provinces but it's worse in Ontario. I would like to know where these Liberals, provincially speaking,  have picked up the disease which I call scandals.

I thought that here in Québec we were in bad shape but we might be in worse shape than Ontario in the near future because this government here is just getting started. I guess we will see what the future will bring.

I think it’s time that we the people show these Liberals that we will not put up with anymore of their way to run a province. I can’t understand why they do this kind of politics. Could it be that they are getting paid too much for the kind of work that they are suppose to be doing? Or are they afflicted with another disease called greed? If so the only remedy for that sickness is to vote them out completely first chance you get.

Notice how the premier of Québec got voted out? There are still remnants left of the Liberals, but next election might take care of that I hope.  As for Ontario, who might replace McGuinty matters a lot, despite the lack of great choices so far.

That’s the end of my rant for today.

When a person’s ego takes over

When a person’s ego takes over the thinking of an individual, it’s time for that person to sit back and think of the consequences that it could have on making proper decisions. That problem is particularly acute if you are the leader of the free world and you are allowing personal opinion to drive foreign policy, and your ego won't allow you to reconsider your positions.

The Liberals are the problem

This morning on radio station CFRA,  I heard Lowell Green claim that the Federal Liberal party are allegedly trying to get Dalton McGuinty (who resigned as premier of Ontario) to join them to become their leader. They must be out of their minds. If they consider this an intelligent decision then I have a great suspicion that the Liberal party will never get out of the rut that its in.

To me this proves that you can’t depend on what these Liberals are going to do or say next. They really are such flip-floppers. First they asked Justin Trudeau to run as their leader. I guess they figured that he would attract more votes from the younger generation because they wouldn't know what his dad did to this country. Since McGuinty got voted in again and again, maybe they now think that he would be a better  person to attract the people to vote for them.

If this happens to be true and they are indeed trying to get McGuinty to join them as their leader, then it should prove to the people that it doesn't matter as to how many billions of dollars that the taxpayers have to pay in punitive damages for breaking contracts and for other stupid decisions that he has made. By walking away from the mess that he has created and left the taxpayers to pay the bills and the next premier trying to straighten out, what exactly qualifies him to run for Prime Minister?

I hope their will be a big investigation into his questionable dealings if one is not already in progress on the money that has disappeared and also about the Orange helicopter service.

Like I said before, the Liberals used to be a good party, but now its in a rut and I hope it stays there where it belongs.  Some people complain about the CBC being a drain on the economy I would say at this time the biggest drain on the economy are the Liberals -both federally and provincially.  A decision to elevate McGuinty after such a scandal only goes to prove the case.

Those are my opinions and I stick by them.

Have a good day.

Remembering the good old days (part 4)

These are my latest thoughts in an on-going comparison of the good old days to today.  You can read the previous parts 1 through 3, here, here and here.

I remember when food was food, and I mean food. Pure food that had no chemicals whatsoever.  Now the world is so populated that some chemicals have to be put in to preserve foods for sale. But it's not only preservatives.  There are other things that get added - like sodium.  Other chemicals are put in that should not be put in - like colouring to make foods look fresh.

Take for example meats, especially ground meat. Stores add colouring to make the meat look a deeper red.  Some stores even go so far as wrapping ground meat that is a couple days old or starting to turn colour. They will put that meat on sale but with fresh ground meat wrapped around it so you don’t see it until you open it up to start cooking it.  I know it's happened to me a couple of times.  But since it was on sale people would jump on it.  Another thing that some meat packers will add is what they call pink slime in the ground meat

Pink slime.  Can you imagine how great it must be to get that name?
The gross factor: The meat industry likes to call it "lean finely textured beef," but after ABC News ran a story on it, the public just called it what it looks like — pink slime, a mixture of waste meat and fatty parts from higher-quality cuts of beef that have had the fat mechanically removed. Afterwards, it's treated with ammonia gas to kill Salmonella and E. coli bacteria. Then it gets added to ground beef as a filler. Food microbiologists and meat producers insist that it's safe, but given the public's reaction to the ABC News report, there's an "ick" factor we just can't overcome. The primary producer of pink slime just announced that it's closing three of the plants where pink slime is produced, and Kroger, Safeway, Food Lion, McDonald's and the National School Lunch Program (among others) have all pulled it from their product offerings.
Now if this can be done in ground meats what else do we get in other foods that we should know about? And that’s why I'd mentioned in an earlier post 'what are we eating'?

I love meat but I wish I was a vegetarian. Then I would know what I was eating. Then again it would all depend on what kind of fertilizer that would enrich the soil the vegetables were growing in.  None of this was a problem in the good old days.

Well, I was hungry but my appetite just went for a  holiday after writing this.

That’s all for now. Bon appétit.

McGuinty resigning

See ya, Dalton.

Ontario premier McGuinty resigning is the best news I've read about so far this year. The other thing I would like to hear is if he would take his troops with him.  Now  that would be some thing to read about. I used to live in Ontario and I moved not by choice but to avoid giving all my pension for rent.

Now the province might have a chance of becoming a have province instead of a have not.  There might be a chance of OHIP coming back like it was instead of the money going somewhere else. I wonder how many Liberal lovers will have nightmares as a result of McGuinty's announcement? Sorry to say I feel for those Liberal lovers but I can’t reach their level of disappointment.

Come on folks, now is your chance to do away with that party.  Don’t take a chance of another McGuinty  appearing on the scene.  Give yourselves a break.

Liberals used to be good at one time but that time was lost because of being to greedy. I don’t like them and never will and its weird how things change. Now the province of Ontario has a chance to recover and Québec will be going down with this PLQ government they have now because of the language issue. I say bilingualism should be done away with and to each his own.

I myself am French and I don’t believe in forcing people to learn what they don’t want to learn or can’t learn. And jobs should be open to anyone - it doesn’t matter what language they speak as long as it's understandable and Canadian..

That’s all I can say for now. Well, only one more thing: I will have a good sleep tonight and think about moving back to Ontario where I was born.

For those who don’t like the Liberals. Sweet dreams.

Criticism

I have never heard so much criticism against a province, as I hear lately from the province of Ontario about the province of Québec. And it always seems to come from the same people that call in to the radio station CFRA on the Lowell Green talk show every  morning.

First there was a complaint, which was against what was on the Québec licence plate “I remember” apparently that's an insult. The next issue is that in Québec we are a bunch of separatists. Last but not least the federal government gives too much money to Québec in equalization payments and they don’t like their money going to this province.  A new variation of this last complaint this morning on the talk show, someone  said “ I don’t like my money going to a separatist government.” That's a lot of complaints and criticism.

I almost forgot one other criticism they have. This is also supposed to be the most corrupt province in Canada.

People in Ontario can criticize this province as much as they want but I only wish that instead of spending their time criticizing this province, they should vote those provincial Liberals out the next election as  they are just as bad as the Liberals we had here provincially. Liberals are Liberals. It seems the first thing on their agenda is “ What can we tax next? ” Liberals - federally or provincially should not even exist in fact they should be called wallet diggers if they insist on being a political party and that would give people a warning as to what they can expect by voting for them.

I know, I’m sorry from jumping from my criticism  from the complaints about Québec to Liberals but when I hear or even think about Liberals I go off track in my thinking.

Have a good day.

What is free speech?

The post I wrote about free speech needs some follow up. As far as I’m concerned there really isn’t any. It is proven often in the USA. People are being sued for slander or defamation of character all the time. Some  win their cases and some lose. I don’t know why anyone should be sued for their opinion; an opinion is an opinion. Yet this guy produces a film that causes killings and destruction of property and gets away with it.

I say anyone that produces something or states some thing that would cause riots, killings, destruction of property should be held responsible. If a person can be sued for slander or defamation of character then why shouldn't a person be held responsible for saying or producing some thing that brought killings and destruction of properties? That's the results of that film against the Islamic faith. Sure a person can say what ever he/she wants to say but what about the end result?

Sure we have "free speech" but there are laws and responsibilities attached to it. If someone talks about Christians, do we destroy properties and kill people? No. If it wasn't for a brainless person using free speech to spread his hate. According to the news it has given the terrorist an excuse to riot and kill because the terrorist were prepared and had weapons ready to attacked the embassy and that film gave them the excuse that they needed.

I hate the middle of the month

I hate the middle of the month, any month, for the simple reason that it's when the mail box gets filled up with junk mail.  It's when all the garbage of  flyers come in. And here, I don’t know about Ontario, not only does it come by mail, but then they also have people dropping some off  at the door during the day, already in a recyclable plastic bag of some kind. I'm not sure why they do it at the middle of the month.  Actually, they also do it when pensions and welfare cheques come in.. During those times look out and get your recycling bin ready because its going to be well fed.

Here there are only two of us living in this house and of course, the recycling is only picked up every two weeks. In those two weeks we manage to fill up the bin and some times we have to store some in other boxes.  We're talking about a very large bin. And its mostly all advertising that fills it. That's way too much.

Another  source of recycling for us that is no less irritating is more flyers that land on my lawn when there is a big wind or because of someone looking in different neighbors bins looking for pop bottles. When people do that, more often than not they let the papers fly away.  They are too lazy or unconcerned to pick them up and drop them in the bin that they were scrounging through. The last source of recycling that bothers me is from  people who are walking by and they have finished their pop or beer or snack and are to lazy to bring them home and dispose of them properly, so they just throw it on your lawn. Some people are hateful.

That doesn't have to be middle of the month, but like I said, the bulk of the recycling comes from flyers and they've chosen the middle of the month to send them, seemingly almost all at once.  I have no idea why, but it sure makes me look forward to the middle of the month being over.

That’s my rant of the day.

Free doom of speech

Freedom of speech is like diplomacy and in the words of Israel’s President there “should be a red line”.

Having the privilege to be able to express one's opinion is good, but not when an opinion would be the cause of rioting, killings and destruction This was the case of the little movie about the Prophet Mohammad which not only caused killings and destruction but it was easy to tell, that it was a hate film. Some good people were killed because of a stupid person not using their brain. That is, if there was any brain at all in the making of this piece of garbage.

No one can convince me, that this was done without thinking of what the results of this thing could do. No, I think this person knew exactly what he was doing and if he didn't, then he belongs in a funny farm, because this type of person is dangerous, not only to other people but to himself.

I think this person should be charged, held responsible for the lives that were eliminated so he could show his hatred for Muslims.. After seeing this piece of garbage I realized that this man was to show his hate for the Muslims. That is my opinion. When it comes to another person's faith no one should be allowed to voice an opinion unless its said in a proper way without showing any malice towards it. That goes for anyone and I don’t care who that could be - even presidents or the Queen.

Those are my opinions. Have a good day.

Remembering the good old days (part 3)

Continued from here and here.

Moving into the city was a shock for me.  It was completely different, from what I was told it would be in the city. We arrived late at night and we were tired so we didn't see anything, when we arrived in Ottawa.  We were living there before moving to the country, but I had grown up in the country. When we left Ottawa I was too young to remember what it was like.

I mentioned on one of my previous post, that as long as I can remember, I always paid attention to other peoples' actions and the way they conducted themselves. I’m still doing it and as a result, I've noticed that in the city people were still friendly but more or less distant.  They always seem to be occupied with their own thoughts. As time went on, people seemed to become less friendly towards each other and became more suspicious of each other -- to the point were it has become a dog eat dog society.

Too much diplomacy, and no action

The more I hear and read about what is going on in Third World countries and about the United States president's behavior, the more I am discouraged. To my way of thinking, president Obama has misused diplomacy to the extent that it has given the enemies of the USA time to regroup and given an advantage to them. They now know they can get away with anything and the president of the USA will not do anything about it except talk and apply more sanctions. Iran is a good example of this.

A little less conversation, a little more action please...

Remembering the good old days part 2

Continued from Part 1.

Remembering the good old days and how much we have evolved into a world of machinery that more or less dictates our lives today.

We now have most everything that is imaginable and most of everything is fed by electricity - televisions, and radios just to name a few. Now we have wireless gadgets to deal with. We even have gone to the extent of changing the dates of the different seasons on the 22nd of every three months while those of us in the older generations were always taught that it was on the 21st of every three months.

I believe if the kids of today were to get caught in the same position as some of us in the older generation were in and knowing what they know now, some would be so bored they would commit suicide. They at least would be lost.

Most kids these days are not brought up to respect others or listen to parents and most can not be trusted to do as they are told. And now they have all kinds of gadgets to occupy their minds. I don't think it's healthy for them. Even the education system by the looks of some of the studies students are given, it's as if they were trying to computerize the students' brains and we end up with a bunch of educated fools that don’t know anything out of school studies except how to play games.

The language kids use today is also unbelievable. Most of them can not or will not accept responsibility for their action. That's true of some adults too. The reason is because of all the distraction we have in this crazy world of today. Yes we have evolved alright, into a world of insanity where no one knows what to do to get away from all of this. What is going to happen when the generation of today take over the responsibility of running this country?

I haven’t began to attack this crazy world yet. I'm sure there's a lot more to come.

That’s is my rant for today.

Assisted Suicide and Bill C101

In one of the French papers the other night I read where the premier of Québec mentioned a couples of laws that she wants to enact. One of them is assisted suicide with the help of a doctor. There were a couple more but there were no changes to that Bill C101. Maybe that means she has changed her mind about trying to push French here like she was going to. Maybe not.

Remembering the good old days (Part 1)

This post is meant for older people, say in the range of 70 years old and up. As a kid, my sisters and I were fortunate enough to be sent to live with our grandparents on a farm. This was in the 1930's. Being on a farm in those days you had to earn your keep young or old. And you also to be responsible for your actions. Old retired farmers would remember this how it was on a farm.

Even though we were young in didn’t matter, we had chores to do and those chores that had to be done in the morning had to be done in the morning and no excuse. We were getting up at 5 a.m. and had to wash in cold water then eat breakfast and then it was out in the barn to feed and water the animals. Then there was wood to bring in for the wood stove and this was all done before going to school, which was a long walk of about a mile.  At noon we'd come back home for lunch then the long walk back to school.

We had no plumbing, no running water, and no electricity but we had plenty of work and believe this or not, I enjoyed it.  I was young and didn’t know any better. But one thing about it, we were healthy. After supper once our homework was done and our chores completed we were allowed to go out and play until  about 9 p.m. Playing meant taking our wagon and rolling down a hill. Then once back in the house we washed up (still in cold water) and then went to bed.  Like I said - it was hard, but it was good.

On Fridays it was the same as other days except, not having school the next day, we used to sit in front of the wood stove with the oil lamps burning and my grandmother used to tell us ghost stories.  This went on for about an hour. Then it was bed time. Before going to bed we had to go to the bathroom and this was a outhouse in the back of the house and late at night going out in the back of the house you had to take your chances about what kind of wild animal you might run into like a bear or porcupine or skunk.  Inside the house if you had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night you had to use a pail.

But another thing about it we never had to worry about food. Getting up in the morning and going for breakfast you could expect meat and potatoes. There was some nice home made bread - the big round loaves freshly made and baked that same morning.  Sometimes just the smell used to wake me up.

Saturday morning we had a different kind of chore.  We'd watch for the butcher. He used to come around with his pickup truck and a homemade cap on the back of it and packed with ice and meat. After I got what my grandmother wanted, I had to bring it in the house and she would check it and while she was doing that I had to go out and open one of the barrels that was packed in course salt and bring in the meat for the day.  Then I'd remove the balance of it and replace with the fresh meat and put more course salt in it. The stink of meat stored in salt was unbelievable.

The milk was straight from the cow, healthy milk no taking anything out of it, the cream stayed in the milk and the only time anything would be changed was when it was put in the separator to get the water from it for the making of butter milk.

Coming from the farm to live in a city was a shock.  In this world today the shock would be even more  unbelievable.

Part 2 next.

Sam Bacile’s Mohammad Movie

I just finished watching this movie and in my opinion, all the people involved in the making of it should all be charged in the making of a movie that would be the cause of death of innocent people and destruction.

The producer of this movie is either an idiot (yes an idiot, or brain dead ) for not thinking of the results this kind of movie could cause. According to what I read it only cost him just 5 Thousand dollars to make this movie. I would say this man has found a way to make money on the cheap and meanwhile he's causing death and destruction.

I’m not a Muslim but after watching this kind of garbage I was insulted. I know some will say “he was only expressing his opinion”, But I say this kind of opinion that would cause death and destruction should not be heard and anyone in their right mind would not come out with some thing like that.

This movie was meant to show how much hate this person has against the Muslim world. He should be charged with a hate crime and instigating violence and the others as accomplices . This rant are my opinions of this producer and supposed actresses and actors.

That’s my rant for today.

Secured.

Several posts back somewhere, I was complaining about a lady towing a bunch of kids behind her and they were holding on to a rope.  I would say kids of about 5 to 6 years old. My problem with it was that if one or more of those kids would say, see a cute little puppy or kitten, he or she might let go and run after it and the danger is that if a car was coming it might hit the kid. Either they smartened up or they received complaints about it. Today the same lady went by with her little troop and there was someone (adult) walking in the back also. I was glad because that saved me from being a whistle blower because I would not like that but for the safety of the kids I would have done it. Now the kids will be safe.

Animosity

From what I’ve been reading and listening to lately, the animosity against the French, especially from the Ottawa side of the river, seems to be getting worse. I would not be surprised that if things don’t change there will come a time when the employers in Ontario will decide not to hire any French person whether they be from Quebec or Ontario will not make any difference. I also think that it will be their way of saying we are tired of complaints from the French because we don’t speak their language. Can you imagine if this was to happen?

Math, Observed

While I was reading the Ottawa Sun the other morning, I saw a complaint about students being below average in math. Here is what drew my attention.

I mention in one of my post before that calculators in schools should be banned. What happens when calculators are used is that the students know how to enter data to solve a math problem but most of them don’t know how to solve them without the calculator. I guess some would think they can always use their calculator if a problem comes up so the student doesn't have to use his/her brain to memorize how to solve them without that calculator.

I say calculators should be banned from schools up to grade 10 and by that time they should have the knowledge of solving math problems without that little gadget. That little gadget creates laziness. Once they reach grades 9 or 10 without the calculator they will have learned how to solve their math problems using their brain instead of depending on the calculator.

I’m sure when assigning homework math some times is given. I say if calculators were ever banned from the schools, math should not be given as home work as students could use their calculators at home and they would be graded on a level that they shouldn’t have been graded on.

Some teachers might not like that idea of banning those things, because with the student using them, it would make it easier for them to check the students work in math but at the same time if the students manage to get good marks on math without using them, it would also show that the teacher is making sure that his or her students understand how to solve the math problems with their brain. It would also be beneficial if the teachers are graded according to how their student are graded.

That’s my rant of the day.

Maniacs

As I have mentioned before, some groups in the third world countries are complete maniacs (if you want to call them humans , that's your decision I think it's the wrong word). From what I read this morning, I am convinced I am correct in my judgement of them.

In one of my previous posts,  I've written about some of the killings and torture that they do.

While reading the site Dawn.com which is a Pakistani website I see this little headline. “KABUL: An adolescent boy and a young girl have been beheaded in two separate incidents in Afghanistan, local officials and police said on Friday.”

This boy's brother was a police officer and this boy was beheaded as a warning to the police.  And the little 6 year old girl was killed for no reason. Now what crime if anything, can a little girl of 6 year old do to be beheaded?

I used to have 3 or 4 more sites from these countries that I would read news from.  But when my computer crashed,  I lost them.  But some of these sites wrote about things that went on  and the news stories are in a word, unbelievable. If I can ever find them again I will post them. Then you will actually read about some of the things that some of those groups do that a person or people.  These maniacs would not be considered as being normal instead they are just killers or sadists.

That’s my rant of the day .

Fine print

My beef today, is with businesses that send out applications to consumers to become a customer but with a contract and if you agree to become one, then they will send you the contract papers. There’s where the fun begins.

An outline of a poll conducted after the election in Quebec

I was reading the French paper back on September 8th and according to the poll that was done right after the election, most of Quebec figured that they wanted the Liberals out of power but they didn’t think that the other parties could do it. Meanwhile Pauline Marois has been in politics for so long and is so well known, that that’s the reason why she got the votes to win the election. But the poll also suggested that the people are not happy about this election.

What I was told as a kid

On one of my older post, I mentioned that when I was a young kid just starting school, I was enrolled in a Catholic school.  I also mention this priest always around and he used to tell us passages from the Bible. I remember one passage that he quoted “ When the end of the world is near, more and more people will deny God.” I’m beginning to think he spoke the truth.

With all the problems going on in this world these days, the killings, the refusal by many of having anything that represents any kind of religion, or any prayers in some institutions, Christian being looked upon like woman are in third world countries, and atheist gaining more and more popularity, I think he spoke the truth.

***********************************************************************

Since the one above is a small one I will add this other short one.

I was reading comments where some people were commenting on a story that the Sun newspaper ran  regarding the Quebec election about some people not being able to vote because their names were not on the list.

Sure enough as expected, comments such as “ Quebec province is corrupt and they must have English names and that’s why they weren't allowed to vote.” The person that said that, I can honestly say, he doesn't know what he’s talking about, because my next door neighbor is French with a French name and he was refused because his name was not on the list.

I must say, there are things that are screwed up in this province, just like Ontario,  and corruption just like Ontario. All I can say to these misinformed commenters is get your facts straight before commenting on some things.

That’s it for today.

Have a good day

Business

I get a kick out of some of  businesses.  Some will overprice their product and once they see that their sales are falling, then they put on a big sale at a reduce price. The price that they reduce it to is the price that they should have sold it for in the first place. They still make a profit.  Then some businesses say that they pay the taxes and that is another lie. The prices were already boosted to include the taxes. I say this because any business person will not sell anything without making a profit or else they would not be in business too long.

I guess they take people for suckers and a lot of people clearly are.

Opinions.

It's nice to be free to voice your opinions, or write them, but some people will offer their opinions, without thinking of the problems they can create. This is especially true when it concerns Islam and their Prophet Mohammed or the Q’uran.

Now we all know, that anything that is said or done in regards to Islam, is taken seriously by Muslims whether it be good or bad. It seems that most people that have anything to say against Islam, don’t think before offering their opinions and then always the same outcome results from Islamist - riots and riots, kill and kill.

These pastors that wanted to burn the Q’uran, need to ask themselves how many people have been killed because of that? This Anti-Islamist movie Producer, a movie against Islam, is yet another example. The video is on you tube and already some people have been killed because of it. Where did this producer go? In hiding he’s safe but what about the innocent people that are being killed because of him not using his brain? Or was it the hunger for money? Without thinking of what the Islamist would do or he just couldn’t care less?

That’s my rant of the day.

What on earth is happening?

That is my question today. What’s happening in the Province of Québec?

First of all in Québec here there was no NDP and no Conservative party candidates to run in the recent provincial election. What we had to vote for were the Liberals, the PQ, Coalition, future Québec, Québec solidaire, Green Party of Québec, Parti marxiste-leniliste du Québec and Québec Citizens Union.

The only two parties that I am familiar with are the PQ and Liberals. The others all unknown to me. So instead of voting for the PQ or Liberals or voting for the others which were unknown to me, I was pretty much forced to stay home and hope for the best.  For me it was the first time I had heard of a bunch of those parties and it seemed to be the case for a lot of other people too.

The election result:  I'm not impressed with the Marois win.  All I can say to this, troubled times are ahead if she decides to implement all the garbage that she promised during the election. Well, she is in charge now and I don’t think that whoever is going to be the opposition will give her too much of a hassle.

Lets face it, what choice did the people have? The others are all unknown so they voted for the one that they knew and that was PQ. Now in Ontario they have NDP, Libs and PC. I don’t know about the Green Party for provincial government in Ontario.

What I find weird is there were none from NDP or PC to run in this election. Don’t these Parties have anyone running in this province  for provincial elections like they do in Ontario? If not how did the Liberals get in here?  It's a disappointing choice available to Quebec and I don't believe it serves the province well.

That’s my little rant of the day.

Pauline Marois

The leader of the PQ party with her idea to insulate the French language against other languages will cause more harm than anything else. There are enough hard feelings against the French now without having a single-minded person elected as Premier of Quebec.

Mais non Marois!
Did she ever stop to think that if Ontario’s employers decided to band together and say, "that’s enough from the French, we will not hire anymore French from Quebec, we will only hire our own citizen from Ontario and even exclude the French from this Province"? Can anyone imagine the problems that it would create? We have a lot of people coming over here to do shopping and I guess that would stop and there would be no importing of any goods from this Province.

Some readers might say this guy has a bad imagination but I don’t think so. I’m just facing reality as to what could happen. It could become a reality, what would stop them from doing that? There’s no law against that. If you don’t want to take a chance of this happening then you know how to vote.

Say No to this Pauline Marois person who is only looking to make a name for herself without any regard for the consequences that her stupid ideas could have on the Province.

That’s my rant of today Je suis un Français et non pas Anglais.

My fearless Quebec election prediction

The language situation in Quebec is very possibly going to be the cause of a revolution. I hope it never happens, but by electing someone like PQ leader Pauline Marois, as the premiere of Quebec is doubling the chances of it happening. We in Quebec were screwed for 4 years with a Liberal government and now we will be screwed even worse if she is elected as Premier of Quebec.

I understand that Quebec is a French province and people like her are scared that the French language will disappear. If she is elected as Premier, whatever businesses that profit the province in the form of business taxes and jobs, will move out. Extremism in any form is not attractive to business. Difficult rules, language rules in this case, are not attractive to business either. Businesses will leave. In the end, there will be nothing here but small businesses that won’t be any great help to the growth of the province.

On Religion

What is going on with Canada and the United States?

These two countries for some reason, seem to have turned against religion all of a sudden. Maybe it's been slowly happening, but it seems more sudden to me.  Did I miss it when the Messiah came down from Heaven and committed some kind of a crime? That would explain why there has been a marginalization of religion lately. Or is there just too much talk about the topic of religion?  Or maybe it is used in politics too often.  I don't know, but religion just seems to be a bad word, a bad idea nowadays.

Have we as Canadians and Americans turned into nations of unbelievers without faith? If this is so then we have a big problem.  If we don’t have faith in the good Lord then what do we have faith in? Ourselves?  I personally don't have a lot of faith in people (i.e. ourselves).  We generally don't have a great track record.  In North America we've had a better track record than most of the rest of the world as far as civility and decency.  But, we had religion helping us along.

I do think there are still a lot of people that believe in the good Lord, and I am one of them.

I have as my personal saying "a person without faith, is a person that is lost". Whatever is written in the Bible (e.g. the Ten Commandments), a person without faith does not believe in conducting themselves according to those ideas.  That person is a candidate for incineration once deceased. That’s my way of thinking.

And that's my rant today.

How times have changed.

My oh my how times have changed. What goes on in schools these days, compared to when I used to go, is astounding.

There seems to be all kinds of stupid things that are happening nowadays, especially in the USA. Here in Canada, there are also some but they are not reported as much as they are in the USA. The teachers here from what I can gather, use their brain instead of wagging their tongue needlessly.

Yesterday I received an e-mail from a friend with a link to a site. I don't have the link any more - hey I'm old, I am allowed to forget about saving these things - but here is another link to the same story. The complaint I read about this teacher was unbelievable. The student was deaf and unable to speak, so he used sign language to communicate. But by using sign language for his name, it was as if he was pointing a gun. The result? They wanted the student to change his name because of it. That was one of the stupidest thing that I have ever heard.

Ignorant people

Ignorant people really bug me. My beef today is about people that can not get a job of importance but they can only get menial jobs according to their intelligence. Yet they act as if they are all powerful in their role.

Aren’t we lucky?

Aren't we lucky to be living in a country of civilized people?

The reason I’m saying this-is because of what I read on a Pakistani web site this morning. The site is Dawn.com. Every morning I go to different web sites just to read the news from different parts of the world.  It is unbelievable what I read about the suffering that’s inflicted amongst the citizens of some of those countries by people that are suppose to be civilized human beings.

Here is an example of what is written on the site I mentioned:
“Barber has eyes, lips, tongue mutilated over illicit relationship Yousaf Khan, 32, was kidnaped by seven members of a landowning family who gouged his eyes with a sharp knife before slitting his ears, nose, lips and tongue.”
Te same thing could happen here as long as we have this multicultural system and it goes on unchecked. True, if they are caught our laws would be applied but the deed would already have been done. What about the killings of the daughters done by the Afia family? Yes they are in jail but where are their daughters? May they rest in peace.

In a sense those that follow that Sharia Law have been brought up to believe in it and that’s there way of life and they immigrate to this country and some of them think that that those laws apply here. The thing with this honour killing and disfiguring of  people for life is truly disturbing. I can just imagine the suffering that goes with it. According to what I read, this law goes back to the time of Moses.

Its good to believe in some thing but to be a fanatic about it like killing, torturing and to disfigure some one because of your faith - I call that uncivilized.

The God that I was brought up to believe in, is for love and peace and not the torture or disfiguring of brothers and sisters as we all are according to the Bible that I read at times.

That’s it for today. Have a good day.

Why worry?

If Israel decides to attack Iran, then there is a good chance that the USA will be drawn in to whatever happens. What I have read so far, according to reports Israel is not equipped militarily to fly to Iran which is one thousand miles away. Apparently they are not equipped to refuel while flying. Also according to the news, India would not let Israel use their air space to attack Iran.

That is another obstacle for Israel. As I can see Israel would have to find away to refuel while flying and if not, well what choice would they have except to buy a flying tanker and then their pilots would have to be trained to do the fueling. By that time Iran could have their bomb. Israel does need help in attacking Iran and do a good job of blowing up their bunkers.

If the job is not done properly, then there would be a war started needlessly, with people dying and for what? Then the USA would be drawn into it, then the nations that would defend Israel might have nuclear weapons and since they don’t like the policies the USA is trying to push on them, they might not hesitate to use those weapons.

pics on Sodahead

I guess we will have to see what happens next month because Israel stated that they would attack the 27th of September. If they do, I’m sure that this world will not be the same as we know it, if some of us are still around to suffer from the radiation that will be left after the fact.

All this because of one man's ambition to be a superpower and his hatred for the Jewish people. I know some other nations don’t like Jews but you don’t hear them wanting to blow them up (at least vocally). Once the war is started some of them might come out of the closet and join in.

From what I’ve read so far, some of those people are not to be trusted - even at the higher levels.

That is my rant of the day.

Quebec election prediction

The face of victory?
I guess whether I like it or not, the P.L.Q.'s Pauline Marois wins in this provincial election coming up.

She has stated what she was going to put into law. She is going to ensure that all English and immigrants that cannot speak French will not be allowed to obtain any kind of government job in Quebec. Not even the office of mayor. Immigrants will have to know French (at the government's expense) if they want to become citizens.

I read in the le Droit (the French paper) today that it seems that this Marois wants to make the English language disappear from Quebec -- she wants everything in French. I hope she doesn't win.

It should also be in the Sun newspaper at some point. Watch for it. This is a bad news election if she wins.

Dietitians

Dietitians, do they know what they are talking about? Do they do any research before they advise people on what kind of food to eat and not to eat? Sometimes I wonder.

Here is an example of what I’m talking about. While reading Fox News a couple of days ago, I noticed a little warning about eggs. Do you remember on radio and TV they used to advertise that eating eggs for breakfast was good for your health, because of the vitamins and protein etc.?

“Eggs are typically considered a ‘superfood,’ full of protein, vitamins and fatty acids.”  However, a new study suggests the cholesterol in egg yolks is almost as dangerous as smoking cigarettes, Fox 31 Denver reported..

Now we could be in trouble, because to align eggs with smoking is very bad.  Some health groups like to exaggerate, and they might petition the government to ban the selling of eggs with the yoke in them.  It would not surprise me at all, because some stupid people will do, say or try anything, just to get their name on the media.

Here is another example of what I’m talking about with respect to dieticians. You will see some advertisements that says things like "Here are five foods not to eat for a flat stomach."  The first picture that’s shown is a banana but they will not tell you that a banana is good for the heart because of the content of potassium (which is good for the heart). So they only give you a partial picture.  And it also seems that today the only thing people worry about is obesity. If you over eat and drink lots of liquid and saturate your food with salt, prepare for a bigger stomach and health problems. I learned that, but the hard way.  Meanwhile dietitians say so much, that it's pretty much impossible to tell the fact from fiction.

That’s my rant or what ever you want to call it for today.

Amahdinejad is Hitler

I would say President Ahmadinejad of Iran is the reincarnation of Hitler. He is a instigator, a killer and he helps and supplies other terrorist with weapons to kill other humans. I wonder what makes a person so hateful towards other human beings, especially Jews?

Anti-Christ, if there is one, I would say that this man would be it, with all the reports about him and all his comments and actions.

What he does and says (like threatening other nations), if he had the ability he would do it. If he had any intelligence, he would realize that he’s making himself out to be an idiot and that he doesn't have a clue as to what he’s talking about. I’m not a psychiatrist but you don’t have to be one to realize he has issue.

The only one nation that seems to have the guts to take him on is Israel, although according to some reports, they are not well enough equipped to do that. I think that they are the only ones that realize that whether he gets his nuclear bomb or not he’s a danger to the whole world and even to his own people. Now would be the time to stop him from getting nuclear weapons. By stopping him now, it would reduce the chance of nuclear power being used. According to the media it would only delay Iran from getting the bomb. That statement to me, doesn't make any sense.

Once his army is defeated what would stop the victors from destroying all their bunkers where their equipment exits to make nuclear weapons? After all those bunkers were man made so man can destroy them.

I am not for war, but if they get their bomb it would mean the end of this world, because nuclear weapons would be used in a counter attack. The best way to prevent this from happening, is to prevent it from happening now. No diplomacy will work with these Iranians. I don’t mean the ordinary citizens of course. This way the world would stand a better chance of being radiation free and suffer no death and sickness from radiation.

That’s my rant for today.

We never know

When the good Lord created us and gave us the power to think for ourselves, why couldn't he have given us the power to know when our lives would be over? That would be so much more purposeful than giving us the power to destroy ourselves. It might be a stupid question to ask but it was on my mind today. This is why that question popped onto this blog.

In the past 3 months I’ve had three friends die - one of a heart attack and the two others were other natural deaths. Each one of them used to pop in every morning for a chat and a coffee. One of them, I received a call from his wife that her husband had died during the night. There was no indication that there was anything wrong in any of these case except the one who had suffered heart attacks. We all knew that he was sick. The other two that did not have heart attacks or anything wrong with them whatsoever still kept on coming over in the morning for coffee and there was nothing to indicate that they were due to leave this world sooner then they or we thought.

President Obama

This President is really fighting to keep his job with the type of ads that his bunch comes out with. It's unbelievable.  I am not an American, but I can read and I can tell if a person is doing a good job for the country.  As far as I’m concerned, the one thing that he did was get read of Bin Laden and that wasn't just him, though he likes to take all the credit.  In any case, the next best thing would have been to get rid of Ahmedinejad in Iran.

To me it looks like he doesn't have a clue, as to what is good for the country and what to do about all the problems the country faces. He doesn't know what to do about them.  I will give him credit for being a good speaker but being a good speaker doesn't solve the problems that the USA is having at this time.

That’s one sad thing about electing a president.  You never know what kind of a job he is going to do.  Is he going to be a yes man or is he going to over do it with diplomacy talk or is he going to act accordingly, once diplomacy has come to its limits?.

Its been reported recently, that Iran is more advanced then anyone thought in obtaining a nuclear bomb. If this is true, the world is in for trouble and I mean trouble. What will diplomacy have done then? Like I said before, diplomacy can be good if it brings results but, it seems this doesn't work with Iran and because of failed talks they are going to get their bomb. I believe that they agreed to talks just to give their scientists time to keep on working at building their bomb

Diplomacy has failed and lost us time.  Trying to make deals for these guys to forget about building a bomb and I think that in near future we will find out the hard way that there is a limit to talking and action was needed.

With the kind of president the USA has now, Iran will have their bomb. Its time for the USA to try someone else for president.

Have a thoughtful day.

Former president Bush

I remember when Mr. Bush declared war on Iraq because apparently Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction according to the intelligence reports he had received from his intelligent agency. They even showed a video of trucks transporting those WMDs but there was nothing indicating where they were being transported.

After the war was over they searched and searched but never found any. Then it was reported that Mr. G. W. Bush was given wrong information and he was blasted by the media for using that excuse to start a war in Iraq.

Now recently, with the fighting going on in Syria, a stash of WMDs has been discovered. Could these WMDs be the ones reported to Mr. Bush at the time? Had Saddam Hussein found out that the Americans knew about them? Could he have made a deal with the president of Syria to hide them there? Just a thought. If this was true I don’t think we'll ever find out.

The only reason I mentioned this, is because I don’t like to hear about someone or a group of an institution being accused of lying. Why would they lie to endanger people's lives and a war sure does that. I know or I should say we all know, that politicians tell lies but simply to start a war, I don’t think so.

Well so much for this rant of the day.

Another stupid question.

While reading the news on the Fox website. I ran across a stupid question and this is what it was:  “ Do robots suffer from sexism?”

Now if this person is referring to some humans walking around like robots that’s fine but to me, it looks like he/she is referring to mechanically built ones because the person has a little video of this on the site. [Sorry again, I'm always forgetting to save the links].

Robots? Sexism?  Really?

Now I’m beginning to wonder if I’m still in the olden days when this kind of question wouldn’t make any sense or I’m starting to realize that today anything makes sense for some people. What this world has become is a nonsensible world, based on what I read and see in the news.

People now can say almost anything whether it makes sense or not, and you can be sure that many people will agree with it.

If the good Lord would have given a limit to what men could use their brain for, this might have turned out to be a better world. But too much brain power was given to us and the results are that He has given the power to men so that man could destroy what He the Lord, has created. With the lack of sense I see around, destroying the world seems quite possible.

That is my short rant of the day.

Teaching French to the English

In Canada as far as I’m concerned, and for that matter, the federal government is concerned, the two official languages are English and French. People that are not bilingual should be served in the language that they understand, but they should not refused employment because of not being bilingual.

And as much as possible, why wouldn't we teach people to be bilingual? Everyone in Canada should be bilingual.  If we are teaching things to our children, why wouldn't that be standard?  Languages are useful marketable skills, like Math or Science.  It's better to teach languages, especially the official ones, than some of the silly classes and subjects children are learning instead of these fundamental skills.

One thing I have to say about the schools that teach French. This is Canada and not France. They try and teach the real Parisian French in many parts of the country. Here we have our own dialect - the same as any other language - which is easier than the real French. More importantly, it's the French that is usable here. So why are we teaching English children Parisian French in school? It makes no sense. Teach them Canadian French.

That’s my rant of the day and if anyone is offended by that little rant, it wasn’t meant to be offensive.
