McGuinty: Who will replace this guy?

With the resignation of Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty, I think this a good question for Ontarians is who will replace this guy.  It is sort of a puzzling question because as it is, the leader of the conservatives provincially has not shown any signs that he could be a leader. Then there is Horvath from the NDP.  I would say about the same as Hudak asw far as his ability to be premier.  I’m saying this is because Hudak and Horvath could have brought that Liberal party down when they had a chance (I should say chances).  But they never did it.

Everyone should know by now how these Liberals are.  I mentioned before that it used to be a good party but now it seems that they are always caught in some kind of scandals - at least provincially. Now the Liberals have made Ontario and Québec into have-not provinces but it's worse in Ontario. I would like to know where these Liberals, provincially speaking,  have picked up the disease which I call scandals.

I thought that here in Québec we were in bad shape but we might be in worse shape than Ontario in the near future because this government here is just getting started. I guess we will see what the future will bring.

I think it’s time that we the people show these Liberals that we will not put up with anymore of their way to run a province. I can’t understand why they do this kind of politics. Could it be that they are getting paid too much for the kind of work that they are suppose to be doing? Or are they afflicted with another disease called greed? If so the only remedy for that sickness is to vote them out completely first chance you get.

Notice how the premier of Québec got voted out? There are still remnants left of the Liberals, but next election might take care of that I hope.  As for Ontario, who might replace McGuinty matters a lot, despite the lack of great choices so far.

That’s the end of my rant for today.

When a person’s ego takes over

When a person’s ego takes over the thinking of an individual, it’s time for that person to sit back and think of the consequences that it could have on making proper decisions. That problem is particularly acute if you are the leader of the free world and you are allowing personal opinion to drive foreign policy, and your ego won't allow you to reconsider your positions.

The Liberals are the problem

This morning on radio station CFRA,  I heard Lowell Green claim that the Federal Liberal party are allegedly trying to get Dalton McGuinty (who resigned as premier of Ontario) to join them to become their leader. They must be out of their minds. If they consider this an intelligent decision then I have a great suspicion that the Liberal party will never get out of the rut that its in.

To me this proves that you can’t depend on what these Liberals are going to do or say next. They really are such flip-floppers. First they asked Justin Trudeau to run as their leader. I guess they figured that he would attract more votes from the younger generation because they wouldn't know what his dad did to this country. Since McGuinty got voted in again and again, maybe they now think that he would be a better  person to attract the people to vote for them.

If this happens to be true and they are indeed trying to get McGuinty to join them as their leader, then it should prove to the people that it doesn't matter as to how many billions of dollars that the taxpayers have to pay in punitive damages for breaking contracts and for other stupid decisions that he has made. By walking away from the mess that he has created and left the taxpayers to pay the bills and the next premier trying to straighten out, what exactly qualifies him to run for Prime Minister?

I hope their will be a big investigation into his questionable dealings if one is not already in progress on the money that has disappeared and also about the Orange helicopter service.

Like I said before, the Liberals used to be a good party, but now its in a rut and I hope it stays there where it belongs.  Some people complain about the CBC being a drain on the economy I would say at this time the biggest drain on the economy are the Liberals -both federally and provincially.  A decision to elevate McGuinty after such a scandal only goes to prove the case.

Those are my opinions and I stick by them.

Have a good day.

Remembering the good old days (part 4)

These are my latest thoughts in an on-going comparison of the good old days to today.  You can read the previous parts 1 through 3, here, here and here.

I remember when food was food, and I mean food. Pure food that had no chemicals whatsoever.  Now the world is so populated that some chemicals have to be put in to preserve foods for sale. But it's not only preservatives.  There are other things that get added - like sodium.  Other chemicals are put in that should not be put in - like colouring to make foods look fresh.

Take for example meats, especially ground meat. Stores add colouring to make the meat look a deeper red.  Some stores even go so far as wrapping ground meat that is a couple days old or starting to turn colour. They will put that meat on sale but with fresh ground meat wrapped around it so you don’t see it until you open it up to start cooking it.  I know it's happened to me a couple of times.  But since it was on sale people would jump on it.  Another thing that some meat packers will add is what they call pink slime in the ground meat

Pink slime.  Can you imagine how great it must be to get that name?
The gross factor: The meat industry likes to call it "lean finely textured beef," but after ABC News ran a story on it, the public just called it what it looks like — pink slime, a mixture of waste meat and fatty parts from higher-quality cuts of beef that have had the fat mechanically removed. Afterwards, it's treated with ammonia gas to kill Salmonella and E. coli bacteria. Then it gets added to ground beef as a filler. Food microbiologists and meat producers insist that it's safe, but given the public's reaction to the ABC News report, there's an "ick" factor we just can't overcome. The primary producer of pink slime just announced that it's closing three of the plants where pink slime is produced, and Kroger, Safeway, Food Lion, McDonald's and the National School Lunch Program (among others) have all pulled it from their product offerings.
Now if this can be done in ground meats what else do we get in other foods that we should know about? And that’s why I'd mentioned in an earlier post 'what are we eating'?

I love meat but I wish I was a vegetarian. Then I would know what I was eating. Then again it would all depend on what kind of fertilizer that would enrich the soil the vegetables were growing in.  None of this was a problem in the good old days.

Well, I was hungry but my appetite just went for a  holiday after writing this.

That’s all for now. Bon appétit.

McGuinty resigning

See ya, Dalton.

Ontario premier McGuinty resigning is the best news I've read about so far this year. The other thing I would like to hear is if he would take his troops with him.  Now  that would be some thing to read about. I used to live in Ontario and I moved not by choice but to avoid giving all my pension for rent.

Now the province might have a chance of becoming a have province instead of a have not.  There might be a chance of OHIP coming back like it was instead of the money going somewhere else. I wonder how many Liberal lovers will have nightmares as a result of McGuinty's announcement? Sorry to say I feel for those Liberal lovers but I can’t reach their level of disappointment.

Come on folks, now is your chance to do away with that party.  Don’t take a chance of another McGuinty  appearing on the scene.  Give yourselves a break.

Liberals used to be good at one time but that time was lost because of being to greedy. I don’t like them and never will and its weird how things change. Now the province of Ontario has a chance to recover and Québec will be going down with this PLQ government they have now because of the language issue. I say bilingualism should be done away with and to each his own.

I myself am French and I don’t believe in forcing people to learn what they don’t want to learn or can’t learn. And jobs should be open to anyone - it doesn’t matter what language they speak as long as it's understandable and Canadian..

That’s all I can say for now. Well, only one more thing: I will have a good sleep tonight and think about moving back to Ontario where I was born.

For those who don’t like the Liberals. Sweet dreams.

Criticism

I have never heard so much criticism against a province, as I hear lately from the province of Ontario about the province of Québec. And it always seems to come from the same people that call in to the radio station CFRA on the Lowell Green talk show every  morning.

First there was a complaint, which was against what was on the Québec licence plate “I remember” apparently that's an insult. The next issue is that in Québec we are a bunch of separatists. Last but not least the federal government gives too much money to Québec in equalization payments and they don’t like their money going to this province.  A new variation of this last complaint this morning on the talk show, someone  said “ I don’t like my money going to a separatist government.” That's a lot of complaints and criticism.

I almost forgot one other criticism they have. This is also supposed to be the most corrupt province in Canada.

People in Ontario can criticize this province as much as they want but I only wish that instead of spending their time criticizing this province, they should vote those provincial Liberals out the next election as  they are just as bad as the Liberals we had here provincially. Liberals are Liberals. It seems the first thing on their agenda is “ What can we tax next? ” Liberals - federally or provincially should not even exist in fact they should be called wallet diggers if they insist on being a political party and that would give people a warning as to what they can expect by voting for them.

I know, I’m sorry from jumping from my criticism  from the complaints about Québec to Liberals but when I hear or even think about Liberals I go off track in my thinking.

Have a good day.

What is free speech?

The post I wrote about free speech needs some follow up. As far as I’m concerned there really isn’t any. It is proven often in the USA. People are being sued for slander or defamation of character all the time. Some  win their cases and some lose. I don’t know why anyone should be sued for their opinion; an opinion is an opinion. Yet this guy produces a film that causes killings and destruction of property and gets away with it.

I say anyone that produces something or states some thing that would cause riots, killings, destruction of property should be held responsible. If a person can be sued for slander or defamation of character then why shouldn't a person be held responsible for saying or producing some thing that brought killings and destruction of properties? That's the results of that film against the Islamic faith. Sure a person can say what ever he/she wants to say but what about the end result?

Sure we have "free speech" but there are laws and responsibilities attached to it. If someone talks about Christians, do we destroy properties and kill people? No. If it wasn't for a brainless person using free speech to spread his hate. According to the news it has given the terrorist an excuse to riot and kill because the terrorist were prepared and had weapons ready to attacked the embassy and that film gave them the excuse that they needed.

I hate the middle of the month

I hate the middle of the month, any month, for the simple reason that it's when the mail box gets filled up with junk mail.  It's when all the garbage of  flyers come in. And here, I don’t know about Ontario, not only does it come by mail, but then they also have people dropping some off  at the door during the day, already in a recyclable plastic bag of some kind. I'm not sure why they do it at the middle of the month.  Actually, they also do it when pensions and welfare cheques come in.. During those times look out and get your recycling bin ready because its going to be well fed.

Here there are only two of us living in this house and of course, the recycling is only picked up every two weeks. In those two weeks we manage to fill up the bin and some times we have to store some in other boxes.  We're talking about a very large bin. And its mostly all advertising that fills it. That's way too much.

Another  source of recycling for us that is no less irritating is more flyers that land on my lawn when there is a big wind or because of someone looking in different neighbors bins looking for pop bottles. When people do that, more often than not they let the papers fly away.  They are too lazy or unconcerned to pick them up and drop them in the bin that they were scrounging through. The last source of recycling that bothers me is from  people who are walking by and they have finished their pop or beer or snack and are to lazy to bring them home and dispose of them properly, so they just throw it on your lawn. Some people are hateful.

That doesn't have to be middle of the month, but like I said, the bulk of the recycling comes from flyers and they've chosen the middle of the month to send them, seemingly almost all at once.  I have no idea why, but it sure makes me look forward to the middle of the month being over.

That’s my rant of the day.

Free doom of speech

Freedom of speech is like diplomacy and in the words of Israel’s President there “should be a red line”.

Having the privilege to be able to express one's opinion is good, but not when an opinion would be the cause of rioting, killings and destruction This was the case of the little movie about the Prophet Mohammad which not only caused killings and destruction but it was easy to tell, that it was a hate film. Some good people were killed because of a stupid person not using their brain. That is, if there was any brain at all in the making of this piece of garbage.

No one can convince me, that this was done without thinking of what the results of this thing could do. No, I think this person knew exactly what he was doing and if he didn't, then he belongs in a funny farm, because this type of person is dangerous, not only to other people but to himself.

I think this person should be charged, held responsible for the lives that were eliminated so he could show his hatred for Muslims.. After seeing this piece of garbage I realized that this man was to show his hate for the Muslims. That is my opinion. When it comes to another person's faith no one should be allowed to voice an opinion unless its said in a proper way without showing any malice towards it. That goes for anyone and I don’t care who that could be - even presidents or the Queen.

Those are my opinions. Have a good day.
