Remembering the good old days (part 3)

Continued from here and here.

Moving into the city was a shock for me.  It was completely different, from what I was told it would be in the city. We arrived late at night and we were tired so we didn't see anything, when we arrived in Ottawa.  We were living there before moving to the country, but I had grown up in the country. When we left Ottawa I was too young to remember what it was like.

I mentioned on one of my previous post, that as long as I can remember, I always paid attention to other peoples' actions and the way they conducted themselves. I’m still doing it and as a result, I've noticed that in the city people were still friendly but more or less distant.  They always seem to be occupied with their own thoughts. As time went on, people seemed to become less friendly towards each other and became more suspicious of each other -- to the point were it has become a dog eat dog society.

Too much diplomacy, and no action

The more I hear and read about what is going on in Third World countries and about the United States president's behavior, the more I am discouraged. To my way of thinking, president Obama has misused diplomacy to the extent that it has given the enemies of the USA time to regroup and given an advantage to them. They now know they can get away with anything and the president of the USA will not do anything about it except talk and apply more sanctions. Iran is a good example of this.

A little less conversation, a little more action please...

Remembering the good old days part 2

Continued from Part 1.

Remembering the good old days and how much we have evolved into a world of machinery that more or less dictates our lives today.

We now have most everything that is imaginable and most of everything is fed by electricity - televisions, and radios just to name a few. Now we have wireless gadgets to deal with. We even have gone to the extent of changing the dates of the different seasons on the 22nd of every three months while those of us in the older generations were always taught that it was on the 21st of every three months.

I believe if the kids of today were to get caught in the same position as some of us in the older generation were in and knowing what they know now, some would be so bored they would commit suicide. They at least would be lost.

Most kids these days are not brought up to respect others or listen to parents and most can not be trusted to do as they are told. And now they have all kinds of gadgets to occupy their minds. I don't think it's healthy for them. Even the education system by the looks of some of the studies students are given, it's as if they were trying to computerize the students' brains and we end up with a bunch of educated fools that don’t know anything out of school studies except how to play games.

The language kids use today is also unbelievable. Most of them can not or will not accept responsibility for their action. That's true of some adults too. The reason is because of all the distraction we have in this crazy world of today. Yes we have evolved alright, into a world of insanity where no one knows what to do to get away from all of this. What is going to happen when the generation of today take over the responsibility of running this country?

I haven’t began to attack this crazy world yet. I'm sure there's a lot more to come.

That’s is my rant for today.

Assisted Suicide and Bill C101

In one of the French papers the other night I read where the premier of Québec mentioned a couples of laws that she wants to enact. One of them is assisted suicide with the help of a doctor. There were a couple more but there were no changes to that Bill C101. Maybe that means she has changed her mind about trying to push French here like she was going to. Maybe not.

Remembering the good old days (Part 1)

This post is meant for older people, say in the range of 70 years old and up. As a kid, my sisters and I were fortunate enough to be sent to live with our grandparents on a farm. This was in the 1930's. Being on a farm in those days you had to earn your keep young or old. And you also to be responsible for your actions. Old retired farmers would remember this how it was on a farm.

Even though we were young in didn’t matter, we had chores to do and those chores that had to be done in the morning had to be done in the morning and no excuse. We were getting up at 5 a.m. and had to wash in cold water then eat breakfast and then it was out in the barn to feed and water the animals. Then there was wood to bring in for the wood stove and this was all done before going to school, which was a long walk of about a mile.  At noon we'd come back home for lunch then the long walk back to school.

We had no plumbing, no running water, and no electricity but we had plenty of work and believe this or not, I enjoyed it.  I was young and didn’t know any better. But one thing about it, we were healthy. After supper once our homework was done and our chores completed we were allowed to go out and play until  about 9 p.m. Playing meant taking our wagon and rolling down a hill. Then once back in the house we washed up (still in cold water) and then went to bed.  Like I said - it was hard, but it was good.

On Fridays it was the same as other days except, not having school the next day, we used to sit in front of the wood stove with the oil lamps burning and my grandmother used to tell us ghost stories.  This went on for about an hour. Then it was bed time. Before going to bed we had to go to the bathroom and this was a outhouse in the back of the house and late at night going out in the back of the house you had to take your chances about what kind of wild animal you might run into like a bear or porcupine or skunk.  Inside the house if you had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night you had to use a pail.

But another thing about it we never had to worry about food. Getting up in the morning and going for breakfast you could expect meat and potatoes. There was some nice home made bread - the big round loaves freshly made and baked that same morning.  Sometimes just the smell used to wake me up.

Saturday morning we had a different kind of chore.  We'd watch for the butcher. He used to come around with his pickup truck and a homemade cap on the back of it and packed with ice and meat. After I got what my grandmother wanted, I had to bring it in the house and she would check it and while she was doing that I had to go out and open one of the barrels that was packed in course salt and bring in the meat for the day.  Then I'd remove the balance of it and replace with the fresh meat and put more course salt in it. The stink of meat stored in salt was unbelievable.

The milk was straight from the cow, healthy milk no taking anything out of it, the cream stayed in the milk and the only time anything would be changed was when it was put in the separator to get the water from it for the making of butter milk.

Coming from the farm to live in a city was a shock.  In this world today the shock would be even more  unbelievable.

Part 2 next.

Sam Bacile’s Mohammad Movie

I just finished watching this movie and in my opinion, all the people involved in the making of it should all be charged in the making of a movie that would be the cause of death of innocent people and destruction.

The producer of this movie is either an idiot (yes an idiot, or brain dead ) for not thinking of the results this kind of movie could cause. According to what I read it only cost him just 5 Thousand dollars to make this movie. I would say this man has found a way to make money on the cheap and meanwhile he's causing death and destruction.

I’m not a Muslim but after watching this kind of garbage I was insulted. I know some will say “he was only expressing his opinion”, But I say this kind of opinion that would cause death and destruction should not be heard and anyone in their right mind would not come out with some thing like that.

This movie was meant to show how much hate this person has against the Muslim world. He should be charged with a hate crime and instigating violence and the others as accomplices . This rant are my opinions of this producer and supposed actresses and actors.

That’s my rant for today.

Secured.

Several posts back somewhere, I was complaining about a lady towing a bunch of kids behind her and they were holding on to a rope.  I would say kids of about 5 to 6 years old. My problem with it was that if one or more of those kids would say, see a cute little puppy or kitten, he or she might let go and run after it and the danger is that if a car was coming it might hit the kid. Either they smartened up or they received complaints about it. Today the same lady went by with her little troop and there was someone (adult) walking in the back also. I was glad because that saved me from being a whistle blower because I would not like that but for the safety of the kids I would have done it. Now the kids will be safe.

Animosity

From what I’ve been reading and listening to lately, the animosity against the French, especially from the Ottawa side of the river, seems to be getting worse. I would not be surprised that if things don’t change there will come a time when the employers in Ontario will decide not to hire any French person whether they be from Quebec or Ontario will not make any difference. I also think that it will be their way of saying we are tired of complaints from the French because we don’t speak their language. Can you imagine if this was to happen?

Math, Observed

While I was reading the Ottawa Sun the other morning, I saw a complaint about students being below average in math. Here is what drew my attention.

I mention in one of my post before that calculators in schools should be banned. What happens when calculators are used is that the students know how to enter data to solve a math problem but most of them don’t know how to solve them without the calculator. I guess some would think they can always use their calculator if a problem comes up so the student doesn't have to use his/her brain to memorize how to solve them without that calculator.

I say calculators should be banned from schools up to grade 10 and by that time they should have the knowledge of solving math problems without that little gadget. That little gadget creates laziness. Once they reach grades 9 or 10 without the calculator they will have learned how to solve their math problems using their brain instead of depending on the calculator.

I’m sure when assigning homework math some times is given. I say if calculators were ever banned from the schools, math should not be given as home work as students could use their calculators at home and they would be graded on a level that they shouldn’t have been graded on.

Some teachers might not like that idea of banning those things, because with the student using them, it would make it easier for them to check the students work in math but at the same time if the students manage to get good marks on math without using them, it would also show that the teacher is making sure that his or her students understand how to solve the math problems with their brain. It would also be beneficial if the teachers are graded according to how their student are graded.

That’s my rant of the day.

Maniacs

As I have mentioned before, some groups in the third world countries are complete maniacs (if you want to call them humans , that's your decision I think it's the wrong word). From what I read this morning, I am convinced I am correct in my judgement of them.

In one of my previous posts,  I've written about some of the killings and torture that they do.

While reading the site Dawn.com which is a Pakistani website I see this little headline. “KABUL: An adolescent boy and a young girl have been beheaded in two separate incidents in Afghanistan, local officials and police said on Friday.”

This boy's brother was a police officer and this boy was beheaded as a warning to the police.  And the little 6 year old girl was killed for no reason. Now what crime if anything, can a little girl of 6 year old do to be beheaded?

I used to have 3 or 4 more sites from these countries that I would read news from.  But when my computer crashed,  I lost them.  But some of these sites wrote about things that went on  and the news stories are in a word, unbelievable. If I can ever find them again I will post them. Then you will actually read about some of the things that some of those groups do that a person or people.  These maniacs would not be considered as being normal instead they are just killers or sadists.

That’s my rant of the day .

Fine print

My beef today, is with businesses that send out applications to consumers to become a customer but with a contract and if you agree to become one, then they will send you the contract papers. There’s where the fun begins.

An outline of a poll conducted after the election in Quebec

I was reading the French paper back on September 8th and according to the poll that was done right after the election, most of Quebec figured that they wanted the Liberals out of power but they didn’t think that the other parties could do it. Meanwhile Pauline Marois has been in politics for so long and is so well known, that that’s the reason why she got the votes to win the election. But the poll also suggested that the people are not happy about this election.

What I was told as a kid

On one of my older post, I mentioned that when I was a young kid just starting school, I was enrolled in a Catholic school.  I also mention this priest always around and he used to tell us passages from the Bible. I remember one passage that he quoted “ When the end of the world is near, more and more people will deny God.” I’m beginning to think he spoke the truth.

With all the problems going on in this world these days, the killings, the refusal by many of having anything that represents any kind of religion, or any prayers in some institutions, Christian being looked upon like woman are in third world countries, and atheist gaining more and more popularity, I think he spoke the truth.

***********************************************************************

Since the one above is a small one I will add this other short one.

I was reading comments where some people were commenting on a story that the Sun newspaper ran  regarding the Quebec election about some people not being able to vote because their names were not on the list.

Sure enough as expected, comments such as “ Quebec province is corrupt and they must have English names and that’s why they weren't allowed to vote.” The person that said that, I can honestly say, he doesn't know what he’s talking about, because my next door neighbor is French with a French name and he was refused because his name was not on the list.

I must say, there are things that are screwed up in this province, just like Ontario,  and corruption just like Ontario. All I can say to these misinformed commenters is get your facts straight before commenting on some things.

That’s it for today.

Have a good day

Business

I get a kick out of some of  businesses.  Some will overprice their product and once they see that their sales are falling, then they put on a big sale at a reduce price. The price that they reduce it to is the price that they should have sold it for in the first place. They still make a profit.  Then some businesses say that they pay the taxes and that is another lie. The prices were already boosted to include the taxes. I say this because any business person will not sell anything without making a profit or else they would not be in business too long.

I guess they take people for suckers and a lot of people clearly are.

Opinions.

It's nice to be free to voice your opinions, or write them, but some people will offer their opinions, without thinking of the problems they can create. This is especially true when it concerns Islam and their Prophet Mohammed or the Q’uran.

Now we all know, that anything that is said or done in regards to Islam, is taken seriously by Muslims whether it be good or bad. It seems that most people that have anything to say against Islam, don’t think before offering their opinions and then always the same outcome results from Islamist - riots and riots, kill and kill.

These pastors that wanted to burn the Q’uran, need to ask themselves how many people have been killed because of that? This Anti-Islamist movie Producer, a movie against Islam, is yet another example. The video is on you tube and already some people have been killed because of it. Where did this producer go? In hiding he’s safe but what about the innocent people that are being killed because of him not using his brain? Or was it the hunger for money? Without thinking of what the Islamist would do or he just couldn’t care less?

That’s my rant of the day.

What on earth is happening?

That is my question today. What’s happening in the Province of Québec?

First of all in Québec here there was no NDP and no Conservative party candidates to run in the recent provincial election. What we had to vote for were the Liberals, the PQ, Coalition, future Québec, Québec solidaire, Green Party of Québec, Parti marxiste-leniliste du Québec and Québec Citizens Union.

The only two parties that I am familiar with are the PQ and Liberals. The others all unknown to me. So instead of voting for the PQ or Liberals or voting for the others which were unknown to me, I was pretty much forced to stay home and hope for the best.  For me it was the first time I had heard of a bunch of those parties and it seemed to be the case for a lot of other people too.

The election result:  I'm not impressed with the Marois win.  All I can say to this, troubled times are ahead if she decides to implement all the garbage that she promised during the election. Well, she is in charge now and I don’t think that whoever is going to be the opposition will give her too much of a hassle.

Lets face it, what choice did the people have? The others are all unknown so they voted for the one that they knew and that was PQ. Now in Ontario they have NDP, Libs and PC. I don’t know about the Green Party for provincial government in Ontario.

What I find weird is there were none from NDP or PC to run in this election. Don’t these Parties have anyone running in this province  for provincial elections like they do in Ontario? If not how did the Liberals get in here?  It's a disappointing choice available to Quebec and I don't believe it serves the province well.

That’s my little rant of the day.

Pauline Marois

The leader of the PQ party with her idea to insulate the French language against other languages will cause more harm than anything else. There are enough hard feelings against the French now without having a single-minded person elected as Premier of Quebec.

Mais non Marois!
Did she ever stop to think that if Ontario’s employers decided to band together and say, "that’s enough from the French, we will not hire anymore French from Quebec, we will only hire our own citizen from Ontario and even exclude the French from this Province"? Can anyone imagine the problems that it would create? We have a lot of people coming over here to do shopping and I guess that would stop and there would be no importing of any goods from this Province.

Some readers might say this guy has a bad imagination but I don’t think so. I’m just facing reality as to what could happen. It could become a reality, what would stop them from doing that? There’s no law against that. If you don’t want to take a chance of this happening then you know how to vote.

Say No to this Pauline Marois person who is only looking to make a name for herself without any regard for the consequences that her stupid ideas could have on the Province.

That’s my rant of today Je suis un Français et non pas Anglais.

My fearless Quebec election prediction

The language situation in Quebec is very possibly going to be the cause of a revolution. I hope it never happens, but by electing someone like PQ leader Pauline Marois, as the premiere of Quebec is doubling the chances of it happening. We in Quebec were screwed for 4 years with a Liberal government and now we will be screwed even worse if she is elected as Premier of Quebec.

I understand that Quebec is a French province and people like her are scared that the French language will disappear. If she is elected as Premier, whatever businesses that profit the province in the form of business taxes and jobs, will move out. Extremism in any form is not attractive to business. Difficult rules, language rules in this case, are not attractive to business either. Businesses will leave. In the end, there will be nothing here but small businesses that won’t be any great help to the growth of the province.
